Present, sitting in some white oaks in Athens TN. This is my first chance to hunt since it opened in TN. Turkeys are getting cranked up right now, got some rooster close by starting to Yelp. How much longer til March???

Sitting in a 20 year old sawtooth oak grove bumped a hog on the way in, hope he comes back. Straight east wind.

Well, my quiver just fell to the ground, so I've got one shot to make it count .

Set up in a bottom between an 8 year old cutover and some 12 to 13 year old pines. No white oak acorns yet, only a few water oaks. I'm at the intersection of a trail running the length of the bottom and one crossing between the cutover and pines. The only water in the stream running through the bottom is within bow range of me. This area hasn't really been messed with in probably 15 years.

I'm in a hardwood flat that's raining acorns, water source about 100 yards behind me.

I rarely wear camo face paint but I like it opening day. I smell like a damn crayon.

Deer piled in on me as I was climbing this morning about 5:30. They had a total blowfest for about 5 mins. Seen 3 coons.

Just smoked a coyote. Had to shoot through brush but I think I got a good hit on him. Best way to start bow season!!!

Seemed to move very early. Had one passed under me but to dark to shoot. My buddy had 3 come by him luckily the last doe hung around till it was just light enough and he put her down.

Got climbed up in a hardwood SMZ between 3 varying age cutovers. Blew out what sounded to be a fawn when I got to about 5 yards from the tree. It blew a few times and ran on off. Hear a few acorns dropping but not quite like I hoped.

I tell you what, it definitely felt like the first time I'd ever unpacked and setup my climber and gear though when I was setting up.

Yep - deer season.

Past three days had daylight pics around 9:30AM and 6:00PM.

Had three of four here when I walked in. Acorns dropping all around. But hogs have sorta pushed deer out of this spot in the past week. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

About to get wet. I'll take all the rain I can get.

I'm set up on a good trail that goes back to thick bedding area in the limestones and cedars. Found one oak that was dropping some decent acorns yesterday. Acorns are gonna be scarce on this Mtn. They either rotten or completely dried up.

Sitting on a mixed oak ridge overlooking Canoe Creek. Only thing so far is Wood ducks swimming around playing.

Had a doe come by about 35 yards at 7:30 but no shot.

I just had a buck with 5 on left side and blade on right come by me and a spike. It looked like it may have broken off in velvet. They were just walking an old road bed not feeding.

Got set up early. Seen few but only thing that has been within bow range is a young spike. Most pics have been in the eve.

Had a spike and a four point walk 15 yards by. Doe came by but 55 yards is as close as she got.

Just had a deer walk at 80 yards behind my stand couldn't tell if it had any headgear. I think they will start moving good in the next hour or so

Just had 2 nana and 3 fawns come by on my right side and caught my scent from the wind. They came from behind me

Had another small doe come by

Small doe just came to my stand and smelled my pee lol

So far 5 yotes (3 black/ 2 tan) and 5 does. No shots yet, but still exciting.

Wind coming from the freaking NE pretty steady the last little while. Had a doe directly downwind at 40 yards giving it hell blowing at me during that period. If it would've stayed out of the SE and she continued her path, might have had a good opening for a 25-30 yard shot.

Had 3 does coming straight to me, but once they got to about 40-50 of me they smelled me and gave me a BJ. Maybe something else will ease by.

Nothing here so far, wind has been howling all morning. I don't think they gonna move. Ugh

My damn adhd is about to kick in. It's raining acorns in a 100 yard long and 20 yard wide strip of hardwoods between a 10 yr old cutover and a cattle farm. Everything else between the cut and cows is 30 year old pines and I ain't seen jack.

I killed a doe at 6:35 this morning. I had to watch her almost 10 minutes before I could even see my pins! She ran 100 yards and was done. 116 lbs.

I'm in for the morning. It was hot and my blood sugar got all wacky.

I saw 3 deer, 2 coons, 1 skunk....and 2 roosters....I think they were lost....

Didn't have a shot on the deer, but it was great being out there. Ready for this evening.

We only saw one sneak through right at daybreak. Climbed down little after 9 but we had a killer breakfast! Biscuits(homemade) gravy, hash browns , sausage, and eggs definitely hit the spot now a power nap before football!

Shot her straight on at about 15 yards, thought I was aiming at the brisket area, but it hit higher in the neck. Still got a total pass thru of the chest...she ran about 25 yards, face into a tree, laid there about 10 seconds and then kicked out. That's the exit hole back there in front of her hip...she was coming up a rise at me, I feared she would spook if she got any closer. Sucker came from dead behind me.

I'm getting down at 1. Y'all gonna have good laugh on me. I did a practice draw and bumped the trigger and let the dang bow go off. I got to try to find my arra when I get down. First accidental discharge I ever had with a freaking bow.

I woke up late, went to an alternate setup that was closer to the truck than I wanted, had a deer that I never saw (but I'm certain was a 28" wide,186" 16 point ) blow at me from dead down wind at 7:40am. And that was all she wrote! Sure was good to be in a tree though!
