Any of y'all hunt them longbeards? I personally don't and haven't tried but we've got over 50 turkeys running my property in Blount county. Would like to have any of y'all come out and show me the ropes on turkeys. I too want to learn the ropes of turkey hunting but have gotten frustrated trying to figure it out.. I have invited a friend who I go to church with to come go with me. He has killed many before but the three times we went, were unable to locate any and walked around for a couple hours and called it a day.

Got word the other day that our lease is going to be thinned heavily on about 85 acres of a 450 acre tract. These are huge mature pines. Are planning on getting in next week and may only take 1 possibly 2 weeks to complete.

I have looked high and low for my HSS. Can't find it anywhere. Reckon I'm gonna have to dig out the old ones that came with my trees Tanda and figure it out. Bout to pack all my stuff up, load the truck and head to Selma.

Got us some points on the board. They sure we're moving this afternoon. It was by the grace of God I found this deer. She had run almost in a complete circle and I was walking back to the truck when I stumbled upon her.

Thanks. I was heading to a spot I always bow hunt at some point in time during the season. On one side is a small field with sawtooth oaks in it and on the other is a small power line with a lot of laurel oaks that are loaded this year. Can only hunt it on a south or east wind. I eased on in there at 2:30 and there was a small 4pt with a doe standing under one of the laurel oaks. It took me about 30 minutes to crawl to my spot on the ground. They both bedded up just out of my sight but I knew they could see me if I was standing up. I finally got situated and at about 4:30, a big gust of wind came up and I could hear a bunch of acorns hitting the ground. I waited about a minute and then hit the grunt twice. It wasn't another minute then here they come up to the tree. I drew back and was shaking so bad I couldn't get the bow back in time. I had to sit there and watch em for a minute until she finally stepped in the shooting lane again. This time I was able to get the bow back with no problem and it was a 20 yard shot. I hit a small dead vine that was in they way. It was about the size of a small stirring straw. It was big enough to deflect it down just a tad but not enough to miss her. She ran 75 yards and didn't have much of a blood trail at all. I had just about given up looking for her when I decided to take the long way back and she was layed up in the middle of a dried up slough. I was tickled to get her. First one I ever killed and recovered on opening day of bow season.
