You wanting surf fishing, pier fishing, or charter boat? The pier is useless now as Sand Island is now part of Dauphin Island (or vice versa). You can fish the East end down by Fort Gaines (there are a couple of smaller "piers" over there). If you want charter boat fishing, take the ferry over to Gulf Shores and look up a sponsor on here, Fairwater Charters .

It looks like the sponsor doesn't do any walk on Trips Write now I know alot of folks can't afford private trips. When are you coming? Are you looking for snapper and Aj ? I would personaly book a trip out of daulphin island marina and do some inshore fishing for reds. The ferry takes forever too.

Your best bet for bass fishing would be to get in touch with Wayne Miller at Fish'n Fever in Saraland (about 45 minutes north of DI). He used to guide around the delta here, and may still do so. Other than that, the closest bass fishing to DI would be in Dog River, and I have never fished for bass there.

http://www.outdooralabama.com/Fishing/freshwater/where/lakes/escambia/ If I am deciphering right, this is where he is bass fishing. I think the only reason he put your name in is to associate the answer with you comment.
God shall never burden us with more than we are capable of carrying. Remember, a walk in the park for some, may be a seemingly insurmountable task. No one can wear another's shoes. The reward is not to be found in this life, but the next. Amen.

If you want to bass fish put in at Dog river or Fowl river. Dog river is best. Charter boats on island go to the Dauphin Island Marina, they will hook you up. The in shore fishing is picking up and should be good when you get down here.

You could also fish off cedar point pier. It is right at the bridge before you cross over to Dauphin Island. I think it is 10.00 to fish and that is for 24 hours. They sell bait snacks and beer. Also when you pay you do not have to have a saltwater fishing license as it is included with the 10.00 but go during the week as it is crowded as hell on the weekends.

If I was staying on the island, I would fish there on the island there are plenty of charterboats that can take good care of you inshore and offshore. I know my website says that I dont do walk-ups but I do I just dont book them or handle that, its just too much for one man to do. The marina (Zekes) puts most all of my walk-ons together for me. If any of you guys come down here fishing this year and want to go on a walk on give them a call and go on a charter boat not the head boat. there number is 251-981-4044. You could always ask if you can go on one of my boats and there is a chance they will put you on one. The three I will have this year is the Fairwater II, Bollweevil, and my new boat the Water Dog.
