I see more deer in the rain, than on a really windy day. Yep, all day long. Love a cloudy, 40 degree, rainy day around the 1st week of January.

IMO, strong winds are a good time to hunt stands where the wind is wrong for that location. I have never been busted by hunting the wrong wind, in a strong wind. I have killed several deer that way. My supposition is that the strong wind dilutes our scent to a non threat level, or just blow the stank out.

Another good spot on windy days from my experiences is a large, open sedge field. I guess a long time ago, I got it in my head that on windy days, when they may not be able to hear you coming as well as on quiet, calm days, they went to the big wide open places so they could catch movement from way off. Right or wrong, that's where I've seen them the most when the wind's howling.

Dog hunting the river swamp. Going to be epic. I really miss hunting deer with dogs. I cut my deer hunting teeth in a dog club in Franklin Co. Some of the best times of my life, great memories and great hunting.
