Well I'm a liar but y'all knew that. Doe down. Congrats! I got one too from the ground in the WMA. 8 years old. She had a food impaction under her chin. Looked like a big ole cyst or tumor but the biologist cut it open and nothing but acorns in there. The second doe in the group ran over my feet, literally. The one I shot ran by at ten feet and smelled me and did this crazy sliding 180 degree turn and ran back the way she came but she stopped in sight. That's the first kill for my ar-47. She was drt and never even twitched or flinched once I fired. Bait57 called it a day - I was willing to field strip her and go back to hunting with this cool weather blowing in. It was blowing too like all get out. Had to watch where I walked to stray out from under really big trees. The call of NNW wind was wrong - it blew from all directions on the ridge tops and in the bottoms. The joys of hunting the hills of South tuscaloosa. It blew from every direction this morning. Good job on getting that old girl.
We will burn that bridge when we get there
