when the weather turns too dreary to be outside, we can look back and escape to the islands (although it rained there everyday it was better than the drought we just went through).

views from hotel in st. thomas:

i had a t-shirt for forty forevers from here and loved it (melon-peachy color with a green parrot). it finally went to ragville somewhere and i wanted to replace it. it was not meant to be. colors were limited to about 4 if i remember correctly:

i had the conch fritters - nothing to write home about or mention:

pete had a greek salad:

cargo ship with boats and yachts getting ready to leave port:

waiting on some chow at duffy's love shack:

in the caribbean and we get the polynesian platter slap:

in town where most of the shopping takes place, you can drop the husband off while you browse:

went to gladys' cafe for lunch. baby girl had wings:

pete had the salad special of the day with avocado and chicken salad:

i had oxtails with macaroni and cheese, spicy rice, white yam, breadfruit and plantains:

lots of roadside fruit stands and drink stands:

toyota dealership in pink on hill in background:

lots of things are painted/graffitied there:

this was just tied to the van, no fencing or anything, right in the city:

they have mongoose everywhere:

and a bazillion cats that are protected and fed, like in this area of magen's beach. do not even attempt to get out of the vehicle if you see these; move on to another area or you will be ganged-up on by felines that come out of the woodwork gun

this is on a hill above magen's bay beach area and serves adult milkshakes. they good too thumbup

these iggie's are everywhere too and make nasty poo:

baby girl with Christmas toenails showing her island bling:

showing her pretty tropical flowered halo:

there shouldn't be any bugs on the island, as chickens and roosters are free-ranging out of the big pen rofl

i did say it rains everyday, right? it was fun driving on the left side of the road, especially hitting the hairpin turns on a 10% grade after the rains. had a guy in a standard vehicle burning the clutch on a hill at a stop sign. it was a 90 degree turn and by the time he could get out of the slide backward, he had completely turned the car horizontal in front of us shocked crazy

I'd weigh 300 lbs if I stayed there long. All that food looks great.

last view before leaving the hotel for the airport:

overview of the harbor at charlotte armalie harbor:

we had a car in st. thomas but baby girl wanted a jeep so that is what we rented in st. croix. i was never so glad to get back to flatter land and i absolutely loved the area here over that of st. thomas.

the water was picture perfect. i loved the blends of greens and blues:

room had dark wood and was fine. think it was mahogany:

more views of the beach at the hotel in st. croix:

i'll post more tomorrow. went to the rum factory. that was beers.

Awesome trip, but you ate chicken wings, and oxtail and not seafood? I saw one order of conch fritters y'all must not be seafood people.

this was a week ago over the Thanksgiving Holiday. As we were driving about, I told Pete you had lived on this island.
