This pretty much is all that was needed to be said.

And it ain't just TV shows that have turned things into the way they are today. Media along with organizations pushing agendas and trophy hunters in lockstep wanting more regulations so others will hunt they way they do have diminished the enjoyment for many.

I guess my view is that most of these hunting shows are entertainment and don't even remotely resemble the type of hunting I enjoy. Don't get me wrong I enjoy killing a big buck like anybody else, but honestly I enjoy hunting not some made for TV perversion of what hunting really is to me. I am fortunate enough to still hunt on some of the property my family helped settle, I get to go out west almost every year for a low budget DIY public land hunt. The hunting on my families farm isn't that great thanks to the neighbors, and I rarely kill anything worth mounting here or out west. However, I kill enough deer every year for several batches of outstanding jerky, burgers, and kabobs. My daughters love all three and are experiencing my true idea of what hunting is not some made for TV market driven perversion of harvesting a toad, with my TC encore, from my redneck blind, followed by a retrieval with my bad boy buggy, to gutting it with my outdoor edge knife before dropping it off at the processor.

To each his owjn but I honestly would like to see a outdoor show that is more like the old apt show " The new Yankee Workshop" crossed with field and streams old how to section where each show focused on a how to article for building a shooting house, deer feed, flagging noodle etc. followed by a real experience with the project in the field.

I already did - he was trying to claim that wildcat is good with watermelon.

Shotts - That kind of show would be an excellent idea.

They took the military channel and ruined the programming on it, now they took the Outdoor Channel and put the Duck Dynasty garbage all over it every time you turn it on.

Everything else is a bunch of completely fake hunting. Not a legit show on there in my opinion.

I built an AR just for hunting. I'm gonna hunt with it. Prob gonna build a few more to hunt with. Just never know.

I agree with most of this thread, but I do believe several of the tv hunting show guys do farm for a living.

it bothers me more when someone (and I have many friends who do this),.. call their property "<insert name> Farms"

when you only have one property.

If you ain't row cropping and not making a living by doing so it ain't a damn farm. When or if you get to hunt at an operation like Don Kisky has then it's a farm. I wish someone would tell Rick Burgess this. It bothers me for some reason but I ain't loss any sleep over it.
