He might!! rofl He can't do any worse than what I did to myself a couple of weeks ago. Snatched a piece of steel flat bar out of a bind and right into my nose. I hit the ground with blood all over my face. I saw stars, I saw Jupiter, hell I even saw the Easter Bunny. Evidentley rolling on the ground is the universal sign to dogs that you want to play. One grabbed by the shirt tail and pulled over my head and was steadily tugging. The other got a pants leg and was trying to rip me in two. Lots of vulgarity.

Can't say what goes on now with the portable weigh stations but years ago I did that job, however when we set up we weighed every truck that came down the road we were on. Now at the time there were a few exceptions to the law and also worked on occasion with Al Public service commission, they would go over a truck with a fine tooth comb.

legal roadblocks require a written plan that, among other things, spells out how stops are decided. Usually every vehicle, every other vehicle, every third vehicle, etc. You cannot legally sit on the side of the road and decide who to stop by what you see as they pass. NOT LEGAL.

Some supervisor needs written plan of the roadblock, BEFORE setting up the roadblock. It can be done legally, just takes some work. Done it several times.

Heck, some western states set em up on Interstates, usually in conjunction with Officers from surrounding states. They make a LOT of good cases. Legally.

Does a copy of the written plan have to be present at the stop? Who governs whether a written plan was in place or not?

Hardwood timber is BIG business in Northeast Bama, we have a large hardwood pulp mill and numerous saw mills. Legal or not , they target log trucks and don't try to hide it.

been a long time since I did one, not sure on having plan present at the site. I did a LOT of research on the subject BEFORE my Capt would allow us to do some. He had to have a copy of the pan before we could do one, prolly a copy to Montgomery as well(I'm guessing here).

Will not disagree with that statement, log trucks were our biggest concerns at that time, why, they were intrastate so they didn't go over any scales unless the crossed state lines.
Interstate truckers had to run by scales in surrounding states so they were for the most part legal.

Weighed a log truck one time with over a 100,000 lbs. on rear tandems alone.

I would guess there was a plan. Sounds like it involved County Deputies and GWs. Also it was in conjunction with the wounded warrior hunt, and set up on the road to Shana's Processing. I figure somebody approved it. I'm about to go feed my goats, got my scooter hooked behind my truck and my camo on...........we'll see if I get pulled over.

Yep. The State seems to be asking for trouble here. I'm just trying to figure out what their goal is? What's the end game.....

I've known of log trucks that were weighed with those small portable scales right outside of the mill that got tickets for being overweight that then went inside the gate and were weighed on the state certified whole truck scales and were 100% within the weight limitations. Carry it to court and you will lose tho.

I follow, however we have rock quarries and steel mills in NA and there's no way of knowing where those trucks are headed. Kinda like ol' Chuck Sykes saying he doesn't have an officer that can read a deer's mind.

100 K on the rear alone shocked , dang well built trailer, lol!

I don't see how a roadblock to check for game check compliance works...one has time to call em in. Only thing would be harvest record compliance.

I agree. And correct me if I'm wrong. But is the only way they could check that is if you had a deer?

And even that one is easy to get around for the serious outlaw.
