No doubt. But beans provide good protein in growing months but once fall hits standing beans are nearly useless when standing corn is there. I love the sight behind the bushog when the ground turns yellow! I need to lay a few fresh strips down when're it dries out come to think of it.

Standing corn is a curse if you go to the mid West. The deer never leave it during daylight. Not a good situation when you have a limited amount of time to hunt.

Just curious. Is that a young deer? Does it need another year or two where you hunt? Personally, I think he is 2.5, maybe 3.5 at the oldest. He's long legged, no girth in the belly or chest and a long nose. This is on a farm that I own and while not necessarily a requirement, I prefer them to get to at least 4.5 before we kill them. He could be a really good one with a little more age.

Standing corn is a curse if you go to the mid West. The deer never leave it during daylight. Not a good situation when you have a limited amount of time to hunt. I think it all depends on how much is standing. This field is only about 3 acres. I have hunted similar stands of standing corn in KS and IL with good results. Now, if it's 300 acres, that's a whole different story and I am with you 100%.

Sweet corn just isn't bred to stand very long. We call it intactness in the Ag business. The heat and storms we have here would decimate sweet corn standing that long.

Can you bush hog strips in standing corn and hunt it? Seems like I had someone tell me once that you couldn't.
