Mobile Al,
Killed them with a lot of different calibers. 7mm mag makes it easy, .243 makes it fun.

The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week.
Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.

The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!

Remmy 700 .308 w/ 165's or 168's. Haven't been in a long while, but I'd gotten to where I only carried a .50 Hawken when I did go.

If I had to choose one, it would be my .308 Remington model 700 BDL with 165's. But this was my first rifle that I killed my first deer with, so I tend to keep it in the case and hunt most often with my 30-06 Winchester model 70 (Featherlight edition) with a 165 round as well. Both are good guns with a long history of accuracy.

270 in the fields.
30-30 in the woods.

Currently a Browning 270, but I have enjoyed several.
30-30 is my trusty old Marlin that I got when I was about 10 years old.

Marlin 336 35 Rem Leupold VX3 2-8 x 33. Hornady leverevolution
Ruger American 30-06 VX1 3-9x40 165gr NBT pushed by IMR 4350

It's appearing that the 270 is the most popular caliber! I didn't count but it seemed to be a favorite!

Savage weather warrior 7mm-08

New to me Savage 116 SS, 30-06 (bought this rig as seen for $400)

FYI: The synthetic stocks on those older savages are much stiffer/better feeling than the new ones.

irishguy, speaking of the 7.62x54R (also known as the 7.62x53r in finland), how about simo hayha (probably more than 800 russians slain; most with the 7.52x54r, and many, many with s suomi submachine gun in 7.62 tokarev; he'd pop up from a brush pile, a mow down whole patrols, then disappera)?
