So I got some gift cards for Christmas and I'm thinking it's time to get some nice insulated lace-up boots. I have a pair of Muck Boots and my feet/toes get so cold without toe-warmers in them if its below 40F & they aren't the most fun to walk a decent distance and climb a climber in either. Need a comfortable and warm pair.
Any suggestions on brands and what grain insulation to get?

Lace up boots will just be warmer than rubber ones no matter, plus a 1200/1600 rubber boot will be like having blocks tied to your ankles. I wear some Danner High Ground 400's and they're warm enough IF you wear toasty toes. I don't know if there's a boot on earth that will keep your toes warm if it gets in the 20's or below, or at least not a boot that doesn't weigh 10 pounds!! I won't even risk my feet getting cold if it's gonna be those temps, I simply wear toasty toes or other foot warmers.
I know we're all different, but if you get cold in an 800g boot, you'll probably also get cold in a 1200g boot. I learned to buy light boots and wear the warmers.

I have 1200 and 2000. Man those 2000 are so heavy I can hardly walk in them.

I have some of these. I wear them anytime it gets cold. They work. I can vouch for these. Very good boot.

I have not tried them yet, but got some heated insoles for Christmas and thought I would try them with my Muck boots and wool socks this weekend.
Is it Hunting Season Yet?

Not trying to be smart but, grains of insulation are irrelevant. everyone is different. I wear woody max with artic Shield boot covers. It's all about circulation and if your feet sweat. My feet are going to get cold no matter what if I don't wear proper socks and put a hand warmer in my boot covers. You need plenty of room in your boots. Tight boots are bad. Nylon wicking socks allow moisture to escape away from your foot. A good pair of wool socks helps too.O love being up a tree in twenty degree weather, and must keep my feet warm. hunt safe

I wear uninsulated lacrosse rubber boots. I do however spend quite a bit on my socks. Rarely do my feet get cold but if they do I throw a hand warmer in my boot after I get in the stand and cool off from walking in.

The insulation in a boot is important but the most critical thing is to not constrict your feet in the boots. I hear of people wearing two pairs of heavy socks saying their feet get cold. The reason is the blood flow is restricted to your toes, not the amount of insulation. I am diabetic which causes poor circulation in my extremities and it is very important to maintain the free blood circulation in my feet.
Cold weather boots should be at least one size larger than normal and allow you to wear a thin liner sock which will wick moisture away from your feet and a good pair of heavy wool socks. you should be able to wiggle your toes in the boot with the socks on. Take the socks you will wear to the store to try on the boots and see which size will work.
I wear Muck Woody Max's when it gets below 30 deg. and appropriate socks and can sit on the stand for several hours without cold feet. I wear a size 15, which is one to two sizes larger than I wear in a everyday shoe. Another thing to consider is if you are sitting on the ground or in a tree. If your feet are resting on cold, frozen ground, the cold will transfer more rapidly through the soles of the boot to your feet, not so much in a tree.

My daughter bought me a pair of the Cabela's throw back to the 60's boots like the LL Bean boot. Rubber/leather uppers, year before last for Christmas. I've worn them for 2 seasons and I love them. I've had a couple heart surgeries so I have thinner blood than most and my feet get cold quick. I love these boots. It's one of those "to each is own" type thing. They do have the removable insulated liner. Good luck

Thanks for all the suggestions and info fellas. I think I'm gonna double socks and toe warmers until post season when some Irish stetters or Danners go on sale.
