With Watson gone, we should get to play a different opponent in the NC game next year.

I figured Bama's lack of passing game would come to bite them. And let's me say this. Desahun watson deserved the heisman far and away over Lamar Jackson. I'm as big of Bama fan as any but Clemson is the team I can stand to lose to. Clemson had an almost perfect night and came ready to play. Good for them. Yep, hurts rolling out and throwing it away and 2/15 on 3rd downs isn't a good formula for a win.

Great game! Congrats to Clemson.... Watson was amazing in the 2nd half.
As a side note and my only sour grapes is this.... two pretty callable pick plays on two Clemson TDs sorry but those were not illegal plays the offensive player did not impede the play the defenders ran into each other !

And Saban was gracious in defeat. Credit Clemson but called out the penalty at the end. 15 yards could've made the difference. Maybe get us to OT. Players gotta be accountable. Cam needs ass chewing while he's at it. So many chances to seal this game and D couldn't do it because O couldn't convert and sustain drives. Maybe the offense can convert on 3rd down at some point in the future. I swear, I hope we run that quasi rub...BS pick play next year. That play is aces on 5 yard line. They got 2 TDS with same play.
Oh, and did we forget how to kick the ball into the endzone? Just a question.
Freaking sucks to lose like this. I'd rather have our ass royally kicked like Utah in 07 than like this.

It was a well coached play, Clemson named it the Orange Crush. I'm much more concerned about the plays leading up to the picks than the picks themselves. Bama had many chances to seal a win & couldn't. Clemson is one QB & a couple of coaches better than Bama. Hats off to the Tigers. I hope to see them again next year.

With Watson gone, we should get to play a different opponent in the NC game next year. This^^^^ This was probably Clemson's last chance for a while. Whereas... Alabama it really doesn't matter whether we have a new QB, new defensive coordinator, New offensive coordinator, pure freshman at QB, star defensive back out for the season, etc... Apparently Saban is going to have the team in the mix for the National Championship every single year regardless. Other coaches are going to have to have all the stars in alignment on a given year to make it there. Whereas Saban, just re-engages the warp drive every single year. Dabo has had the best quarterback in the country the last 2 years and is 1 and 1. As much respect as I have for Dabo and what he has done, if you give him Jake Coker last year and Jalen Hurts this year, he wouldn't even had won his conference. I'm beginning to have my doubts if Jalen will even be our quarterback next year. I'm sure Tua Tagovaloa was watching the game thinking, "I got this..."

It was a great championship game and I always appreciate a quality football game regardless of if we don't win it. You couldn't have asked for a more dramatic ending. I told my wife that one positive thing about losing that game is that it insures that Saban ain't going anywhere for a few more years. No great coach would retire after losing in the championship game. Roll Tide! We'll compete for it again next year.

the thing with pick plays is this: don't put your team in a position to have to deal with them. everybody runs 'em, including alabama. watson and dabo were classy after the game. clemson earned it.

100 ifs, ands, and buts, but the problem is the disgusting 3rd down offense, which I felt was really a problem with 2nd down offense, which was a problem with 1-read green QB. 11 or more 3 and outs (consecutively it felt like) makes your defense have to play 100 plays, and you could tell they were shot about 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter. I don't think that was Clemson's plan, but they clearly noticed it and took advantage. The same defense that nearly hospitalized Clemson in the firs half let them drive 88 yards with 2 mins to go in the game, and basically looked like an open pasture gate the last quarter and a half.
We were on the edge of Eternia, when the power of Greyskull began to take hold.

the thing with pick plays is this: don't put your team in a position to have to deal with them. everybody runs 'em, including alabama. BINGO!! We have a winner. You sack Watson or make a play on Renfroe or one of their other big boy receivers and you have them pinned on their side of the 50 with under a minute to play and game is on ice. The thing is with pick plays, 9 out of 10 times the refs are not gonna call it. You just have to defend it. Dr. B
