i've been wanting to try this for a few years now, and i think i'm going to invest in some molds to play around with. i just wondered if anyone else on here does this. i really just want to make some jig heads and maybe pour some worms. i've been shopping around and looking at stuff. i don't want to spend a lot of money right now, and was just wanting some info on the best and easiest stuff to use.

i pour my own shakey head jigs and bullet weights. Bought molds from barlows tackle world on the internet. Do-It molds it what i have. takes a little getting used to, like pouring several empty molds to get the temperature of the mold correct, purity of lead, etc. if you have any questions i'll try to help

Check out www.lurecraft.com for a wide variety of molds for plastics along with skirts and other things for finishing jigs.

Do-It is a good source for lead molding items.

I ran across www.nakedbaitco.com earlier today and their Skirt Expander looks pretty cool for making skirts.

If you're planning to pour lead or plastic, set up a dedicated work space and plan to have a clean, organized area. A mini assembly line will work best to avoid accidents.

Thumbs up for BarlowsTackle. Also spend the 50 or so bucks and get a Lee melting pot, it makes it so much easier.

I pour my own jigs (both finesse and football heads), shakey heads, and screwloc football heads. My molds are from www.Do-itmolds.com , my skirt material comes from www.fishingskirts.com, I have an expander from www.Nakedbaits.com, I do order some stuff from www.Barlows.com my lead melter is a 4 pounder and I get my lead from Sable steel here in Montgomery. I have alot of time and money invested and it is starting to pay off.
Here is an example of what I have poured....

Those look nice.

I like the round rubber skirts. They "poof" more and just look all tentacley on the bottom.

You do well with the black-and-white jig, or is that something for someone else?

Clem,
I sent those to MS.. I really like the quality of the skirt material I get from my supplier.. He has good stuff... btw, Most of my skirt material is silicone.. has more of a tendancy to float and move around in the water when sitting still.

Mag,
I use 32798BLN Mustad hooks. I like the way the flat eye hook goes through grass. You can pull it easier (I think) than the inline hook...
