I know there are some guys on here that use Toyota 4 runners. I am sure some of you use other SUV's for hunting. Would love to have a 4X4 cheap on gas and still fairly capable off road.

If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

I don't even own a truck anymore. I have a Tahoe and a bronco. There is nothing better to me for hunting or fishing than a SUV. I can stack all my gear before season and unload it after season. Don't have to worry bout someone stealing it out of the back of the truck or getting wet. And still have room to tote the family around

I've never done it, but I've sworn for a couple of years now that my next truck will be a 4Runner or Tahoe. (Even though I do make fun of the sissy boys with the trailer hitch racks)

My wife has had a 4Runners a couple of times in the past, and I loved pulling the boat with them, but just never thought of hunting out of em. But the place I hunt now, you could drive a car down most of the roads.

I have hunted out of a Jeep Wrangler for 10+years, take back seat out and load up. I have a receiver hitch on the front for the rack for stands and deer. It has enough room for two hunters and gear and will go anywhere I need.

I've used my Ford Explorer for years. Like others have mentioned, I can keep everything in the back dry and secure. I own a small trailer and a 4 wheeler for hard to access areas.

The biggest issue for me is it will fit in my garage. A full size truck is too long. I'm not going to spend $40k on a new truck and leave it parked outside.

I got a 2000 model Tahoe I use. With a flip up cargo rack on the back. I keep all my gear in the back all during hunting season. I just jump in and go. And I have room where someone can actually ride with me instead of the back seat of my crew cab always cluttered up.

Had a Isuzu Trooper when I was in college, one of the best hunting vehicles I've owned. I would love a 4runnner now.

I had been using a 2006 Yukon XL for past 8 seasons. Slept in it for a week traveling to Oklahoma and Nebraska by myself to turkey hunt. Tons of room, AWD, satellite radio, but crappy gas mileage

LOL! There ain't nothing sissy boy about a trailer hitch rack. Here's a pic of an Oakmulgee 9-point and my 2002 Xterra 4x4 taken 2-1/2 weeks ago.

I love my Xterra but it gets pretty poor gas mileage. Can load my canoe on it too!

The only thing I don't like about hunting out of my Tahoe has to do with the rack. Plenty of space in the back, but getting it out with the rack on the back is inconvenient. Have to climb on top to reach things pushed against the rear seat. I guess if that's my only gripe I'm ok.

I use a 2004 Impala. If I kill something that won't fit in the trunk, I come get the old pickup. The forest service keeps the roads up well here.

I drive a Jeep Cherokee or my Toyota fj in the woods. Had a nice Hardbody I used for several years, but I have 2 growing boys who love to hunt so it had to go..

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

Geno, back when I was in sales, the company provided us with sedans. Every 60,000 miles we would get a replacement and I would immediately put a 1.5 inch hitch on it to accommodate a hitch rack. Hauled several deer away from Oakmulgee on sedans! :-)

I hauled a 230 lb pig to the processor in the car and they laughed a little and said the biggest deer they ever got came out of the trunk of a crown vic lol.

I'm an insurance agent, and our company doesn't give vehicles to the agents, BUT they do provide them for the adjusters (and they are allowed to use it for personal use). One of them comes by all the time during hunting season and that thing will be muddy as heck! laugh
It's funny to see that Trailblazer with company logos all over it, muddy as can be and a deer on the back rack!

When I started deer hunting I used an Acura TL. That didn't work out too well smile
