With the forecast this weekend looking like rain and a lot of it, is it worth hunting?
The rut is gonna happen regardless of weather, but has anyone seen good results in the rain?

like u said if the rut is on, they wont worry about the weather. I don't know if it will put a damper on the movement but it's going to put a damper on how I intended to hunt. looks like a ground blind/ shooting house kinda weekend to me

Depends if the forecast is still calling for severe weather then I want go. We did have a guest kill a nice upper 120s buck (Came out in a Greenfield) that was only 13" wide a few seasons ago, and there was severe weather in the area. But it aint worth it to me if there's even a chance for severe weather...

Just have NO interest in hunting in the rain.

Looks like another Guntersville fishing trip!

I seemed to see the most deer in hunting planted pines when the rain is forecasted to end before dark. Deer would come out of the planted pines very shortly after the rain would end. This was a heavily hunted area. I have a friend who hunted an area north of of that property who saw and killed nice deer during storms.

I have seen some BIG deer in the rain. they don't seem to mind it as much as hunters do.

Depends on the kind of rain.

Rain is generally a deer movement suppresser.
They generally bed up until after the rain, especially a hard or moderate intensity rain. And usually move significantly after the rain has cleared out - just like people do.

One thing that I have found is that a light misty drizzly rain is a very good time to hunt. Especially if it is a cold temperature misty drizzly rain. For some reason that seems to be a deer movement activator, or at least a buck movement activator.

As long as its not lightning or storming then hunt!

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

Last year at our club, one of the stormiest days during the rut was warm and also was our best day for buck activity. They were wide open that day.

Fast forward to this year. Stormy day during the rut with lots of thunder/lightning and warm weather, I killed a nice wide 8 pt hot on the trail of a doe, a little while after the heavy rains stopped.

Most of the times in my experience, when the rains slacks or quits for a little bit, the deer really seem to move. I have seen a few during downpours, most are seen just as it slacks/quits.

Stormy days during the rut are my favorite. It is a good time to pack snacks/drinks and set up in a good ground blind or shooting house for an "all-dayer", IMHO.

Looks like another weekend may be washed out; 90% chance of thunderstorms, some severe. Hate to loose a rut weekend. Can't remember a worse season weather wise. Next week looks pretty good;however. May just wait till Thursday and hunt 4-5 days.

It's worth hunting anytime you can get in the woods. Just a matter of determining a level of misery you're willing to tolerate.

Don't mind rain; but not crazy about being in a manufactured home in potential severe weather (with poor to non existent internet, Verizon has been BAD this year)and a 260 mile round trip for bad conditions and minimal opportunity. Will get after them hard next week.

Never been too keen on hunting in the rain(a light drizzle is fine) but gonna see how it works out this weekend. Got the Majestic Outdoors men's retreat. At least I know there will be good fellowship, worship, and food. Deer killing would be a bonus

I won't be out there with the thunderstorms they are predicting around here. Tornadoes, lightning, ect. I'm gonna sneak in a hunt tomorrow afternoon but probably lay low the rest of the weekend. That's probably what the bucks will be doing too...laying up in some cover with a doe. Hopefully, come Monday they will be trying to make up for lost time and I'll be waiting!
