I'm not sure how that's possible. 2 tornados touching down and destroying everything in sight is pretty bad.

In the larger scope of things - last night was a low/moderate severe weather event. Tonight has the potential to be a high impact weather event. Honestly - three or more notches up the severity ladder. The models are predicting a level of events that is probably not going to happen and if they wash out by 50% it will still be worse than last night. I hope in my soul that they wash out 100% but we can't ignore the possibility that they will resolve and we have a dozen tornadoes that take lives in four states in addition to another dozen that do damage. That is the worst case scenario. Hopefully we will see a much less than worst case scenario.

In Hattiesburg we were at enhanced, level 3. That's the same level as it will be tonight.

No. We have two large areas in moderate (level 4) right now for tonight. Almost all of south Alabama, a lot of west central MS, northeast LA, and southeast AR.

Outside of that enhanced area are two large areas of moderate risks and, honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see those moderate areas expanded. A moderate risk from the SPC isn't a common occurrence, and much less common in January.

The system tonight has much better overall dynamics vs the system from this morning. Tonight's setup has potential for multiple discreet supercells. From a dynamics standpoint, tonight's system has the potential to be worse and impact a much larger area.

It does not feel stable outside right now. Cows are all laying down in the pastures around here. Also saw a very large murder of crows congregating in a pasture down the road from here, that does not bode well.

I've been noticing how eerily quiet it is this afternoon. This plot is usually covered with birds and squirrels running all around it. No birds or squirrels at all this afternoon. No deer either.

This morning I tried heading to Atlanta and well it just didn't happen.
Left Auburn and it was raining but I wasn't expecting it to be apocalyptic outside.

There was super heavy rain, standing water, trees down/falling and cars sliding off.
I made it to Hogansville,GA, pulled off into a Loves and rode out the storm and headed back to Auburn.
There was a Hogansville PD car that had gone off and rolled on 85.

Probably one the hairiest drives I've had.

Hoping these storms tonight aren't damaging.

If y'all see a William Carey student wearing a Georgia hat and a blue muscle shirt on the news, he's mine. He's been on TV stations from Mississippi to Georgia.

So you drove into the storm that blew through Lee County about 8:30ish?

Away from would be more accurate but yes correct.
Didn't realize to the extent of the storm, I thought it was mainly behind me.
