I'm fixing to be LFCB - live from Cracker Barrel. I'm starving. Wife and I headed out door when daughter said she was wanted to go so I'm sitting, waiting. Can't tell if that's thunder or my guts growling.

Rain just stopped here. Probably head into the back yard with a x-bow for a bit.

They're saying the worst is yet to come this evening. It's supposed to clear up for a while and then an even larger chance of tornadoes roll back in tonight. Y'all keep watching the weather. Good luck1

Lesson of the day.... never trust the weatherman or a forecast. Forecast said ESE wind, and rain would stop around 12pm. Wind is NE, and rain stopped around 10:00am. I'm in a tree now, bug had to call an audible cause someone was already parked where I had planned to hunt. Oh well. I'm 30' up a pine and near some thickets, so maybe I'll catch one cruising. Best of luck to all of y'all today on this fine summer day! ![rofl rofl](/forum/images/graemlins/default/roflmao.gif)

Crossed the cockbow, went in the woods next to the back yard, came out with a 5 point.
Very interesting woods I am hunting now. Almost tame deer, completely tame squirrels who don't gripe at me at all. Hell, they don't even look up when I sneak by ten yards away. Tall trees are full of doves (over 50 to begin with - that explains why I have twenty of them at a time on our feeders), a MASSIVE red hawk lives and hunts there and the squirrels/birds flip out when he's around (most of the time - he managed to fly in and set in a tall pine for 1/2 hour without the prey knowing). Neighbors 100 yards away doing dumb and smart neighbor stuff makes hearing anything tough sometimes. The woods are full of old vehicles of every sort - the owner is a hoarder who seriously would have been on American Pickers but he asked me to call them and tell them not to come because of how sick him and the wife have been. Every kind of of old metal crap laying around everywhere - it's just not how I would do things but it is what it is.
I found three individual scrapes, the communal scrape and another rub - this one is decent but not as big as the one I found in the swamp last year tracking the old sow I shot at. The communal scrape is really long and narrow - 30 feet long and three feet or so across with probably 25 licking limbs. It's right on top of an old terrace high point and runs along the terrace top the whole way. My house was the current owner's wife's grandfather's and he farmed the whole area that is the community now. I'm sure he farmed that land and thought of it as the crap because it's just steep enough to need to be terraced. That being said, all of the vegetation would have grown since 1950 or so as that was when he grew old (my house was built in 1930)

Post up a pic of the deer Geno. Them deer are in there cause they can crawl in a car when the weather is bad.

I just said I came out with a five point - I didn't say anything about killing a deer. I could have easily though, I had one just a tad larger than this walk by at about ten feet. Once he got where he could smell me, he looked hard at me six or seven times as he casually strolled off. The neighbors tearing around in the back yard with a 4 wheeler they were working on kicked him up out the thickest bed ever (tangle of tree blow downs) about 40 yards from their back property line and about 100 yards down the hill from where I was sitting on the ground. I thought I had found a shed at first. It was about twenty yards from the big old scrape. ![](http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o572/Eugene_Randle/IMG_0016_zpsbe2no7tr.jpg) ![](http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o572/Eugene_Randle/IMG_0017_zpslmlantjh.jpg) If you look closely at the brow tines, they have been sawed off, not chewed off. I'm sure there is some sort of story behind this skull other than a young buck dying in the woods. No other bones laying around at all. I bet somebody's dog drug it off into the woods before they could finish harvesting antler for some unknown use.

Just got settled in a quad pod overlooking a ginormous cutover. I can see for about a half mile. Janet is 350 yards away in a foodplot.
