Finding a dealer who carries Nightforce NXS, Meopta R2, and Zeiss Victory HT. I've called everybody in Bham. No luck. Would be willing to drive to ATL, NASHVILLE, JACKSON, just to look through them all. Y'all got any ideas?

Yep, no luck. They don't carry Meopta anymore.

I would have said Mark's or Simmons.

Maybe Field and Stream or the big sporting goods place in T-Town. I forget the name.

But comparing those three mentioned I'd lean towards the Nightforce for Target and the Zeiss for hunting.

Have you considered Swarovski?

Woods & Water in Tuscaloosa? I've owned all of those. I'll save you some time, take BGH's advice. Go with the NXS for target and Zeiss for hunting. wink

Thanks guys. Woods and Water--no got, Field and Stream no got either. I was hoping the Meopta R2 would be close enough to the other two so that I could save a thousand dollars or more.

And unless I've misread their website, Swaro doesn't offer a illuminated reticle.

BGH AND SHAW--in your minds is there an $800 difference between the Zeiss Victory HT and the Nightforce NXS for hunting?

To me, yes. For others, possibly not. All the scopes you mentioned are fine scopes. To my eyes, Zeiss wins hands down for clarity and light transmission. The NXS is built like a tank and very reliable if you're going to be dialing.

Perch, be quiet. The grownups are having a discussion. wink

I could be wrong, but I believe EVERY Swarovski scope with an (i) suffix are illuminated. I just bought an X5i, and it is indeed illuminated.

Idk if you remember last year the meostar R2 got pulled from the US market due to copyright infringement on Swaro. Me and another member here both ordered a 2.5x15x50 from an overseas source. Communication was kinda tough but we got them. They're fine pieces of glass.

Thanks, I just reread the Swaro website on the x5I and it doesn't mention a illuminated reticle. But the Z6I does say illuminated reticle. I didn't read far enough the first time. I'll reconsider Swaro now.

Optics-trade.eu has them cheap enough. That's where my R2 came from

If I can get it, think I'll put the Meostar R2 on top of a Accumark. That will be my new excuse maker. LOL.
