Thought I would share this info with anybody that hunts or lives in this area. There is a ring of thieves that are working this area.
Since June we have had 3 four wheelers and trailers stolen from our hunting camp in Society Hill. They sneak up to the house anywhere from 12-3 am and cut the lock of the trailer, hook it up to theirs and they are gone.
Just this past Friday 2 more were stolen from different camps.
1 on Red Rd in Society Hill. He had a trailer with a side by side, hunting equipment, air compressors, tools that were left to him by his dad, tree stand equipment, cooking equipment, etc. 40k worth.
The other was at Elm-Hat hunting club camp. Same thing, they wait til the middle of the night, come in and cut the lock and they're gone.
Of course as you would expect the Macon County Sheriff's Dept doesn't care. So we're basically on our own trying to stop this.
Amyway, just a heads up.

I suggest you practice weeping and crying so you can claim you were in fear and scared after you catch and render swift justice.
Too much of this going on. Killing a few will cause the remainder to consider their chances.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about this very thing.
The last thing I want to do is kill somebody, but these people are stealing things while we're right inside the camp house 20 feet away.
These are some very desperate, dangerous people who are for sure armed themselves. All we would have to do is ease the shotgun barrel out the window and they are done. Again though, I don't want that on my conscious.
But I'll be damned if something bad isn't going to happen to them if the motion detector alarm beside my bed goes off and I catch them out there attempting it again.

Sorry about you guys have thieves take your stuff. Hope they are caught soon!

I have to ask a question though: Could y'all not hear a truck drive up so close to the camp house or see the headlights in the middle of the night? Or is traffic in and out of the camp so common as not to think twice about it?

It's interesting that you can drive from Fort Davis to Hardaway during the middle of the day any day of the week and see black folks riding good looking and fairly new 4 wheeler's and side by sides up and down the roads. Even though they ain't got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out. And no for the snowflakes on here I'm not saying that hard working black folks don't legally own 4 wheeler's.

Being very familiar with the area and the chances of the sheriffs department catching them, probably the best course of action would be to get up with other clubs and set these folks up with some SXS bait and catch them yourselves. Then turn them over to the sheriff.

Coe, people like that are ready and willing to shot anyone that stands in their way. It's just like the old saying don't pull a gun unless you are willing to use it. My point is make sure you have extra mags easily accessible. I wouldn't use a shotgun unless it was loaded with OO buck or slugs. If you cripple a thief, American courts have a history of making you care for them the rest of their lives. While killing someone may not be very nice, they are stealing you blind and I doubt they worry about taking a life. I've had a bass boat stolen and many other high dollar items. I'm tired of being a victim. The law is useless. Consider me a vigilante with no regrets.

You're assuming they're armed. They may not be.

Also, sticking a shotgun barrel out the window and killing someone over an ATV is going to earn time in Atmore, most likely.

Get some game cameras, sensor lights and know they're patterning everyone around there if this is going on regularly. Obviously someone is watching who is coming and going at the camps.

The 2 that were stolen in the summer time, all the A/C window units in the house were running . No way you're going to hear somebody out side.
In my case our bedroom is upstairs and on the other side of the house. These folks are professionals, they know what they are doing and you know they aren't out there making noise.
As far as the headlights, there would never be headlights pointed at the house.

This thread has inspired me to look up GPS tracking units. If only one of those trailers or ATVs had a tracking unit those turds would have been caught already. If anybody has any experience with any GPS trackers, post it up.

what's frustrating is if the Sheriffs Dept gave a damn they could have setup some GPS bait and caught these POS a long time ago

I would hate to be put in the position of finding someone in the act of stealing something that is worth several thousands of dollars. I don't want to kill anyone, but some folks have no qualms about just walking up and taking from those that work.

I have an old Brute Force 750 with a blown motor that would make a great bait wheeler. Or you could fix it and let them steal it, they would probably bring it back to you!
