guys i just can't figure this out. i need to replace the prop on my yamaha. it has these numbers on it. y-2 g 14. i'm guessing that 14 is the pitch. what is y-2 and g? I know i can measure, but my props a three blade so it's hard for me to tell the exact diameter. my owner's manual isn't much help by the way. i just know the diamter is about 10 inches. but i don't want "about" to mess me up.

I would call your local boat dealer/repair shop and ask them or if you have/know someone who works on props call and ask them. I have no idea when it comes to props.

What kind of boat/motor setup do you have?

it's a 17 1/2 foot g3 w/ a 50hp yamaha four stroke.

If you want to know the diameter, stick a bolt through it and trace the curve the prop makes on a sheet of paper and measure across. I can see how to do this better than I can explain it.
