I bought one the day after Christmas in weatherby vanguard. Since then I've already killed right at 10 animals with it. Mostly hogs. The first doe i shot with it she got plastered. Shooting 110 gr accubond and it was a quarter away shot. Shot through the back of rib cage, through the heart, and exited in front of the shoulder. Bullet worked perfect. Insides were shredded. The other week I let my friend shoot a roughly 200lb sow. Shot her through front shoulder. I was wondering how well it'd do since they're such tough skinned animals. Well it blew a hole half the size of a baseball in it. And had a heck of a blood trail. So to be sending a light bullet it sure packs an impressive punch and has exceptional penetration.

I've thought about it. I've got 3 factory boxes of Nosler accubond. I keep all the brass so maybe I can buy bullets and everything and have somebody whip some up

I haven't owned 257 Weatherby but I've heard a lot of good things about the 100 gr TTSX in them.

I've shot lots of critters with the 257 Roy. Jack rabbits to eland. I've killed critters as close as 10 yards and as far away as 627 yards. There isn't another caliber like it that I'm aware of.

I prefer the 100 grain pointed soft point for soft skinned game and the 120 grain Nos Par for tougher game.

The most impressive thing I've done with this round is getting pass though shots
On a zebra at 275 yards. Zebra are the toughest critters for their size on the planet. I'm going moose hunting next year and I plan to take my Roy for that hunt.

Shooting a jack rabbit with a 257Wby Mag I could imagine you sent Jack rabbit across the desert?

That is one bad round from what I've seen..very devastating on deer and pretty much anything else you shoot with it

Only round I've ever seen that made a deer completely sit down on its self. She was dead before she ever hit the ground. Literally dropped straight down with all four legs tucked up under her. Granted they're expensive to feed but I've never seen a more devastating round with minimal recoil.

It's not proven anywhere but there is something about that combo.

Bullet diameter + Bullet weight + Bullet velocity = unreal killing power.

How bad are they about causing excessive bloodshot meat? I would imagine very bad. I've heard Barnes bullets help some in that regard. Can anyone tell me if the Barnes makes any difference?

I shot a couple deer at about 40 yards with a 25-06 and 100 grain Barnes. Without looking I'd say that would be close to the same velocity as a WBY Mag at 150-180 yards or so. No bloodshot meat at all. Caliber sized hole in and double caliber sized hole out. Very dead deer.

Wyoming.

I've shot several jack rabbits in Wyoming with the Roy and all were devastating.

I saw a dove shot with a hot 25/06 once upon a time, nothing but a puff ball, one foot, and a wing tip.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
