The map is truly a guesstimate. I have been involved in some meetings generating these type of population maps and it relies on a lot of input by a lot of folks thinking "there seems to be a lot here and not many here"! I can assure you there are plenty of places in blue (Elmore Coosa, Montgomery, Macon) that have 4 gobblers per sq mile. Plenty of areas in yellow in the same counties that have 5 or more as well. We need to remember that our "estimates" are from listening at the best places we think we can hear some - a high hill in the heart of our turkey area, but if I hear 4-5 from my "good" spots, then "area" has more than 5 per sq mile. Most folks can regularly hear a mile distant gobbler, usually farther, so we are listening to a sq mile approximately. I can also gauarantee that there is an equal density of turkeys on both sides of Lake Mitchell. Turkeys CAN fly grin

I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine
