I saw a dove shot with a hot 25/06 once upon a time, nothing but a puff ball, one foot, and a wing tip. THat might have been a little overkill for a dove.

Back when the land was more open where I hunt, a .257 Weatherby was my boomstick of choice. I had some dramatic kills back in those days to say the least. I wish the need would arise to take her out of the mothballs tomorrow...

look at the ballistics of the .257 with 100s and .300 WBY with 165s and you'll figure out why I like them both. Pretty close.

look at the ballistics of the .257 with 100s and .300 WBY with 165s and you'll figure out why I like them both. Pretty close. And, a 257 w/ 110's and a 270Wby mag w/ 140's; I like them both also.

One of my best friends shoots a 257 in mark v accumark. He shot a hog at 550 yds and he said it literally blew it back 5-10 feet. Does your friend hunt free range in the big pen, by chance? He must have shot him with a howitzer instead of a .257.
