I picked up a 25-06 this year. Getting ready to work up some loads for it. Going to hot rod a 110g hopefully. Although it shoots 117g fusions really well.

Shot a doe and a hog with it back in early December. Dang near gutted the hog and the doe was bang flop. Quarter bores hit like Thors Hammer.

Back when the land was more open where I hunt, a .257 Weatherby was my boomstick of choice. I had some dramatic kills back in those days to say the least. I wish the need would arise to take her out of the mothballs tomorrow...

look at the ballistics of the .257 with 100s and .300 WBY with 165s and you'll figure out why I like them both. Pretty close.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

And, a 257 w/ 110's and a 270Wby mag w/ 140's; I like them both also.

I picked up an older German .257WBY Mk V a couple years ago. Been wanting one a long time. I've only shot one critter with it and it was impressive to say the least. I shot a good buck off-hand at about 40 yds walking straight at me with a 100 gn spitzer factory load. The impact drove him backwards off his feet. The mess we found when we field dressed him was indescribable. Not quite the first shot I was hoping for with the Wby, but one I'll never forget.

One of my best friends shoots a 257 in mark v accumark. He shot a hog at 550 yds and he said it literally blew it back 5-10 feet. He also shot multiple mature bucks from 250-500 yards and all devastating and pass throughout

Does your friend hunt free range in the big pen, by chance? He must have shot him with a howitzer instead of a .257.

only reason I sometimes wish I had pigs. Be something to shoot long range at. Ive always thought the idea of popping pigs off at a grand and further would be fun
