Charles,

Thank you for doing my last 3 European mounts. My only regret is not having a deer that I wanted to have shoulder mounted, because the ones in your shop look awesome. I appreciate the time you've spent discussing and showing me deer each time I have been there. I sincerely hope you keep doing the work and look forward to bringing a deer there next year. Thanks.

Knew this was coming when every person and his dog got on here and said they would only ever take their mounts to AW. Testament to his work, but taxidermy is an art, and he's only one guy. Supply chain was bound to get bogged down at some point. Good luck, Charles!

It floors me that people spend countless dollars on leases, guns, out of state trips and when they finally kill a deer that the deem mountable are so impatient. Charles has done several shoulder and European mounts for me and several of my friends and they are all exceptional work. I wouldn't care how long he took to get one of mine back or how much he charged. He's that good. Guys quit pestering the man and let him do his work. And it's pretty sorry for people to take him work and then not pick up and pay the man.

Totally understand. Everyone needs some time to enjoy doing the things they enjoy. Believe me, I know. When I finally find a little time, I'm so worn out I usually end up not doing anything. I know it has to be hard doing what you do, but I hope you talk to the Lord about it and maybe do some re-evaluation of the way you run and do business. You're work is great and you are gifted. Obviously, there are people on here who would continue to use you for their taxidermy work even if you had to increase your prices, limit what you take in, and let folks know up front the wait may take a while as you want to enjoy life and spend time with your family. Hang in there Charles, you have a lot of prayers going up for you.

I can only imagine the stress and work that goes into taxidermy especially in volume. I've never had anything done by AW but have read numerous positive comments about the shop. I hope you can find a way to balance work and things you enjoy doing. Good luck to you.

Charles is a great man and does some professional taxidermy . I personally think he is the best around , never rush a man that does 1st class work .

Life is too dang short to not enjoy it a little. I don't care how good your taxidermy is - if it is taking a negative toll on you then there is only one solution IMO. You don't owe it to anyone to continue doing it because you are good at it.

First off I wasn't calling Charles out. I called 3 or so weeks ago and he said a couple weeks so I put the post here so he could check when ever he got on and not have to deal with a call while working.

I was under the understanding it wouldn't take quite as long so my expectations were wrong plain and simple. Charles I apologize if this post was misconstrued in any way.

Thanks a lot Josh...you done screwed it up for everybody! smile

Im sure hes over worked and after he gets a bunch of deer out and some folks pay him he will be OK.

Hope it works out for you AW! I enjoy seeing the guys post up your work!

But I understand, my buddies that are taxis got into it because of their love for deer...and if they did a good job...they never got to chase them like they used to again.

The guys that didnt do such a good job get to hunt A LOT still though..I wonder why? shocked

All you guys that have a smart ass comment about how excessive it seems or life expectancy can take your shucks somewhere else. I don't think anybody has a gun to your head telling you where to take your taxi business. Let's see these fraking wall hangers y'all are killing and your need for a taxidermist

Charles, I hope you don't quit. 1 or 5 years don't care and I will pay cash up front.

I had plans to take him one this year, but I didn't find the deer of course.

I wasn't responding to the OP, referencing any taxidermist whatsoever, and I didn't make a comment to anybody but Ben2. I just have a hard time believing he would be perfectly fine with 2 years. Which by the way - nobody so far has stated they have had to wait on a head for that long.

I have seen some members post AW's work on here and it looks fantastic. It is high quality.

This is not in reference to artistic whitetails.

I have a caribou and wolverine mount that I waited at least two years on. The same taxi also did my lynx and it took a while, but not two years.

All I am saying is I have had 4 deer done by Charles and have 4 others there currently. He does great work and if it takes 2 yrs to get a great mount it's worth it. The last taxidermist I used finished a deer for me in 6 months and it sucked he also took 4 years to finish my once in a lifetime turkey and it stunk so bad and looked so bad I left it outside for 6 months then threw it in a dumpster so if it takes 2 or 3 years for an awesome mount that will last a lifetime I will happily wait!

I finally got home from work and read through all the post. As I mentioned earlier today I DID NOT MAKE THE ORIGINAL POST TO BASH CHARLES IN ANY WAY. I have a great deal of respect for the artwork he turns out. If I didn't I would not have sent my head there to begin with.

I assumed it would have been completed inside a year and you know what assuming does. In this case it made me out to be an ass. So again I want to apologize to Charles if I caused any heartache or hard feelings. I lost his cell number or I would call him tonight and tell him in person. And for the record I sent him a PM saying the same.

I was gonna ask if you bothered pm him before starting a thread. Hopefully you will be satisfied when he's done.
