This thread is a perfect example of one of the reasons I love turkey hunting. Deer hunters are worried about people hunting to close to their property lines.... while turkey hunters don't want another hunter to even be in the same county Naww man - I don't care to tell anybody about all the gobbling I heard this morning at the Oakmulgee district of the TNF, about 1 mile north of Hwy. 25, due NE of Payne Lake. You and me both brother. That's why I don't like to mention all that gobbling I hear at skyline. It just wouldn't be right for all the local guys up there. I heard all you gotta do at skyline is ride the roads and blow your crow call and you'll kill 2 or 3 up there easy. you need to shut the hell up in all seriousness, I listened twice this week in Shelby county and didn't hear a peep. It was cold both mornings I went though.

I was thinking the same thing, to close to go time to spook now. It will be kill time soon enough.

I'm a bit skeptical of most of these reports. Methinks some of you heathens can't be trusted. But I have it on good authority that the turkeys are going nuts down around Clayton. The locals are afraid to go outside for all the rowdy gobblers. Must be someone trying to get $5 an acre for turkey rights.. I think the fall drought burned up all the turkey nests. We need to petition AGAINST prescribed burning this year! It's brutal around here.

I'm at yet another spot, hoping for better luck. All these are new places, and I think I am starting to understand why they said "sure hunt all you want". Haven't seen a track even . Maybe daybreak will provide some excitement. Good luck to everyone listening

I think the fall drought burned up all the turkey nests. Huh? Just joshing y'all a bit. Definitely seeing some t-Rex tracks and strut marks around here. I've heard at least 2 different birds for each of the last 5 mornings. We have more jakes around here this year than I can recall. Should be a great season!

I went again this morning, still batting 0 for the listening year. Well, I did hear one yesterday, on a place that I can't hunt. I went there because I know there are birds there and just wanted to see if anything was talking at all. Now just need to find a huntable one.
