When loading for my ar 15's my manual has data for regular 223 but also a service rifle section. Can i load off either? The service rifle section only has heavier grain bullets but im wanting to load 55gr. Thanks

Is your rifle chambered 223 rem or 5.56 NATO? Load based on the appropriate clambering. My Hornady manual has 223 rem, 223 rem service rifle( writeup says loads tailored for AR-15 chambered in 223rem. 5.56 NATO section cautions to only use these loads in AR-15 type rifles chambered 5.56 NATO. Be cautious as you go start low in the data and work your way up. Watch for pressure signs at each step of the way. Have fun shooting gun

You missed the question. What is your barrel stamped/chambered for? .223 or 5.56? 5.56 is a much higher pressure round than .223 therefore it's much safer and acceptable to load/shoot .223 in a barrel chambered for 5.56 than the other way around. Once you determine this you should load accordingly.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Try 25.0 - 25.6 (Max) gr of either H335 or TAC with 55 gr bullets. CCI 450 primers. Gets 2800 - 2850 in my 16" Sig Sauer 516.

A 5.56 chamber can shoot .223 or 5.56 they are identical in dimension the 5.56 is loaded hotter but a .223 is only tested to shoot .223 pressure reloads and a higher pressure 5.56 load may damage the rifle. So if your stamped 5.56 your GTG with either one you choose.
