Sad thing is - the Navy told me half a dozen times not to eat it. Of course, what's the first thing I do? I lost about a week there. I told a corpsman I felt like I was dying and he said "you might be". Wasn't really scared but thought that was one heck of a dumb way to kill myself.

Saw the balut in Hawaii and then again in B'ham at the Chinese superstore on Green Springs.

I'll eat a lot of stuff. A preserved or rotted or fermented or whatever it is egg with an embryo ain't one of them.

It's got a beak/feet/feathers. Pretty well developed then baked in the sand for a week or two. Kind of chewy (beak/feet) and crunchy (bones) at the same time. And smells and tastes rotten.

I also got turned off to fish sauce about a year after that. Can't take the fermented smell/taste.

Church's Chicken with those pickled jalapenos give me a case of flaming rectosis every time.

There used to be a place in Union Springs called the crispy chick and later on went on to be the chew and chat. They had a sandwich called "The COB" and it was some count. It was fried chicken tenders with this special jalape�o mustard sauce, but it would rip my butt up. It is now a church's and I believe they still serve the COB, but it ain't like it used to be. I haven't been down there in 3 years since my grandfather died, but we would always go there. I'm sure someone on here knows what I'm talking about.

I had a good friend while in the Navy from the Philippines and she loved balut she also said dog was a delicacy food in the Philippines. I ate a lot of different foods from different cultures during my time in the military and introduced some southern foods to a few of my shipmates but the balut and dog that's just not human.

I eat at that Church's in Union Springs and IMO their chicken is some count. Hot, crispy, add a little honey and hot sauce. Mmmm mmmm.

Never tried any sandwiches or tenders there, though.

Well since I have no gallbladder everything.I'm sitting here on the chitter right now and almost didn't make it home after I eat an Italian BMT sub from subway about 45 minutes ago.

Hot-n-Spicy chicken sammich from anywhere. Chic-fil-A, Hardees, ect. I'm gonna keep eating them from time to time tho.

Seems like "spicy" peppers are one HELL of a laxative. I am eating some good ole crawfish this weekend, and the unsettled gut at 4am is worth it.
