if he can watch any thing you would normally pay to watch for free , yep they be illegal . but there is a lot of free to air stuff out there but mostly crap . lol Fire sticks themselves are not illegal. I venture to say that these sticks have Kodi installed. Kodi is an open source media player that offers a lot of plugins and free stuff. Kodi is not illegal by itself. Some of those plugins, Exodus for example, allow you to stream pirated content. In some cases, your internet service provider can determine that you have been streaming illegal content and will send you a warning letter, followed by service termination. That's where having a VPN setup comes in handy.
