Old Cloverdale has a lot of old money and nice homes, but I would never live there. Because literally across the railroad tracks is some of the worst areas you can be in. I work in Montgomery everyday and comute to and from Auburn cause it's a much better place to live

I know exactly what you mean Jbuc. For several years I commuted to Montgomery and Auburn from Columbus Ga.

I know I am biased and I haven't lived anywhere else here but when it comes to Alabama, Auburn seems to be about perfect.
Part of the allure that drew me to Auburn has changed with some of the recent building but I can't control that.

Good schools, overall low crime, good hunting land close, nice area, Atlanta airport is decently close.

The fishing always drew me to Columbus.

I guess like anywhere it depends on the exact area but overall isn't Columbus fairly rough?
Seems like it's next to Montgomery in a number of notifications on my phone.

I haven't taken up fishing yet. I will need to eventually.

No neighborhood is safe anymore. Reference the Lake Cyrus story. I live in a decent neighborhood myself, but there is a lot of traffic that passes by my house. It only takes a minute for someone to pull up into a driveway, grab a leaf blower or weedeater and run to the pawn shop so they can support their drug habit. This kind of thing happens everyday.

To a point sure, but things also follow very distinct trends.
That also comes back to personal responsibility, yes you should be able to leave stuff out and it be left alone but that isn't the case and in the year 2017, we have to live accordingly.

I lived in a nice area of Columbus but got victimized twice. I had my truck tool box emptied and all my rods stolen from my boat. After My rod box got pried open I booby trapped it. I placed and old rod in and put treble hooks all over the lid and edge. The cop that saw that gave me a long lecture. I told him I'd just sit on the roof with my bow. He went nuts then. It's irrelevant that my box was damaged and over $2k in rods were taken. not my fault if a thief finds one of my lost arras. Not to mention the $1500 worth of tools and toolbox stolen.

No, not really. South side is rough, but north side and Harris county are real nice. Overall It's real nice compared to Montgomery

It really doesn't matter the city. There are thieves everywhere. I can tell you Semmes Alabama is a very small community littered with nurseries. I bet there are as many thieves there as any city of that size. I can't count the things that have been stolen from my grandmothers old house. It's been empty over 5 yrs and they still break in.

Charlie hate that happened, invest in you a dvr camera system. Walmart sells them now, but you can get a better quality setup on amazon, it's good insurance.

Thieves hit my street a few years ago on Thanksgiving eve, I was busy with cooking and stuff and I moved my truck out closer to the street and even left the keys in it. They got my old Knight muzzleloader and change from cup holder. They even pried up the coins that were stuck to it from old spilled coffee, didn't leave the first penny. My toolbox was locked so they left it alone. They took my keys with them, not cheap getting a locksmith to re-key doors on Thanksgiving day! I did get my keys back a couple of weeks later. Apparently they went behind a local warehouse to divide the loot and dropped/tossed my keys. Someone found them and got my contact info from a store purchase rewards card i keep on them.
