Jason Chaffetz has proposed Congressmen get reimbursed $2500 a month for housing. Really? I think that is insane. Most of them become millionaires mysteriously while there(NOT FROM SALARIES). What say you?

Thomas Jefferson. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

If being a dumbass was fatal some of you would be on your death bed!

Not no ,,, but ,,, HELL NO .....

This country can't afford to prop them up with any more perks ,,,having their own congressional health care plan and govt pension plan is too much as it is,, I sure hope Trump puts a stop to this.

They already get a per diem which more than covers meals and housing. They want a housing allowance because it is tax free.

What's that amount? Meals and housing in DC can't be cheap

I doubt $2500 gets you much around capital

It'll get you a 1 or 2 bedroom townhouse/apartment in DC.

I don't know the amount today. It's readily available on the gov website.

Maybe it'll buy em a crappy rental in a bad part of DC and they'll start to appreciate gun rights.

Y'all know he's a Republican right? When bill complains about republicans and how theyre no different than democrats, this is what he's talking about. They're all worthless politicians looking after one another, whether they have a D or an R in front of their name. There's less than a handful of them actually doing what they promised their voters.

Not just no but HELL NO!!! I sure wish I could vote myself a raise or housing allowance like they can... Like Perch said most of them end up millionaires by the time they leave office....

The end of democracy and the defeat of the American revolution will occur when government falls into the hands of lending institutions and moneyed incorporation's Thomas Jefferson. 1812

I think the state they serve should build them a barracks (house)to live in. Kind of like a state embassy in DC. They should not be allowed to own a residence in side the beltway.

Don't know about amount. That seems steep. Imagine anything decent in DC or surrounding area is expensive rental. Only reason they have to rent in DC is because they ran for office. Of course they knew that when they ran. They should get a small reimbursement allowance or stipend. Not reimbursement of $2500 a month. Maybe they get $500 a month stipend and pay difference if they want to live in luxury. That amount is nuts even if rents are high. You chose to run so you knew you had to rent a place in DC.
