Bear Creek reservoir in Franklin county, Hodges Alabama. Very nice campground on the waters edge and the lake water looks really clean. From what I understand Mike it has great kayaking areas in the lake and creek. Call before you go to this one, the last I heard the dam on Little Bear was leaking and they had it drawn way down.

From what I understand Mike it has great kayaking areas in the lake and creek. Call before you go to this one, the last I heard the dam on Little Bear was leaking and they had it drawn way down. It was way down when I was there during May. The TVA has repaired the leak and as of the last week in May they were going to go back to full pool. Might be a while before it gets to that but with all the rain lately it has to be better than it was. Camp Grist north of Selma used to be nice. Leon Brooks Hines (Escambia County Lake, near AL FL line east of Brewton) looked nice when I went through there. Remote as all get out (both of them). Sherling Lake above Greenville is nice too.
Didn't figure these would get mentioned much. Monroe County Lake in Beatrice is another off the beaten path location. It is much better since the county/volunteers took over the operation from the state after the Bentley crybaby fest. Six Mile creek has a nice one close by too. It is run by the Corps of engineers. I can't think of the name, but the one by White Hall and Lowndes WMA in Lowndes County is very nice. Someone else will chime in with the name.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

My kids always enjoy the Chief Ladiga campground. It's on the Pinhoti Trail & Ladiga rails to trails. You can ride bikes & hike or play in the creek. It has very nice facilities. X2

At least one of the campgrounds in Bankhead National Forest is on a pretty nice little lake.

Quite a few on West Point Lake. Corps of Engineers lake. The main purpose for building that dam was recreation. Plus you are only a short drive from Callaway Gardens.

burchfield branch park just below lock 17 is nice and has spots right on the water. there's a couple more parks further down holt lake that I have seen from the water but never stayed at that look nice.
Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!

I'm gonna have to look into a few of these places since we got our ass's banned from Higgins Ferry park. C'mon Paul Harvey we gonna need the rest of that story It's a long story but what ultimately got us banned was the wife going to the camper next door, waking the folks up,going in after the woman and threatening bodily harm..You know you can't have nothing when you put a buncha rednecks together. It was a buncha bulldoodoo though cause we hadn't done anything and the woman kept bitching just cause they didn't like us.Been going down there camping for years and never had a single problem till these new folks bring their camper in a year ago and now all they do is bitch about everything.Pisses me off

Deerlick creek was pretty good years ago when I did that sort of thing.
Also Cochrane on the Tombigbee has a big camper area. A lot of guys used to rent a spot and use it to stay in during deer season...
