First off, I grew up in Florida so I don't have the frame of reference that some of you guys do. I keep reading not-so-kind references to Walker county. Are they supposed to be the armpit of Alabama? Discuss.

Go to this Facebook page: The Ostrich ...and then find the "Search for posts on this page" box on the right hand side. Type in "Walker County" and you will have the best explanation anyone could provide.

I grew up in walker county and wouldn't move back for love nor money. The only way I'd move back is if the Lord told me to. That is one messed up county

"they'll kill'ye and bury ye in a strip mine in walker county alabama" as professed in multiple fashion at duck camp by a guy from alabama (not walker county, obviously)

Walker Co is basically a real-life caricature of all the typical Alabama stereotypes.
There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:
1. All Politicians Are Liars 2. All Gun Laws Are an Infringement 3. Taxation Is Theft

I grew up just across the Walker County line and lived there for years as an adult as well. Not a thing in the world wrong with Walker County...as long as you are a white trash, crack head. They used to be known for more hit men than any other place in the state or country or something like that. I never went looking for one so I don't remember. I still have a lot of family that lives there and most are, just like stated above, white trash, crack heads that would lie, cheat, steal, and screw anything that moves to get their next fix.
I will say though that I find it humorous that so many on here talk about how bad Walker County is but sing praises for Birmingham, New Orleans and Memphis, claiming those places to be perfectly safe.

Don't know about it being stereotypical but it is a drug infested sesspool of a place and I have plenty of relatives that live there that see it the same way. Growing up there in the 70's wasn't bad at all. I believe that I lived in the best part of walker county. We never worried about anyone coming through the community that didn't belong there and everyone kept an eye out for anything out of the ordinary
