You must not have gone to high school where I did. Most of the guys I went to school with would have loved a shot with a good looking teacher. It didn't have anything to do with "love" or "seduction" or anything like that. It had to do with them being a horny teenage boy that wanted the prestige of sleeping with a teacher.

I've never understood this nonsense. Back when I was bangin a couple hot teachers, I wouldve been seriously pissed off if they got arrested.

If this is going to be how the law is interpreted/enforced, then a student that is considered a legal, consenting adult, has no business being enrolled in school and the system needs changed reflecting how long a person goes to school. Just my opinion.

We didn't have any female teachers that were too interesting to the guys. The pretty ones were very classy and never advertised. We had some of the guy teachers sleeping with girls and several years after I got out, there was a big scandal between some teachers sleeping with same sex students. This broke open when one of the guys I graduated with went to prison for something relatively minor, got out and went back and killed the teacher that got him into the homo stuff. He started talking and it turned out there were several teachers involved.

There are two things at play here that the law is based on.

1.) Right to privacy in intimate acts by consenting adults.

2.) Use of authority to coerce consent.

The students involved were over the age of consent (adults for the purpose of this case).

This ruling has nothing to do with use of authority - they were NOT under the control/authority of the teacher.

These people were performing an act that is considered legal in every instance except "student-teacher" under the laws of the same state that prosecuted them.

Read only what the judge said, and it sounds like the AL legislature did a very poor job of writing the law. Instead of appealing, the legislature needs to try again. The way it's written, a 22 yr old teacher could date a 19 yr old Sr from another state and be declared a criminal and a sex offender. I could have told them that was too broad.
