Okay guys. I created a page on Facebook. I am auctioning off my Calls. All proceeds are going to the Hurricane Harvey Victims. Here is where I need your advice. I was thinking about using Red Cross tho I know people have mixed feelings. So with that said who would I be better off with sending the money to? I have thought about finding a church that is planning a big trip to help with these fellow Americans. I also have a good friend that loves in Texas that is down helping rescuing people in his boat. Thought about calling him up, but I know it would be hard to get a hold of him right now

Thanks

Not sure how many you're auctioning or what the materials costs are but that is very generous.

If I was in that position I think I would donate to two sources, I typically don't like all my eggs in one basket.

I dislike the red Cross and will never give them a dime. Far too much money goes to management salaries etc. Plus they don't distribute to everybody equally.

PLUS there no guarantee that they'll use your donation for the cause you feel moved to donate to...your money could go to help Syrian refugees, or whatever else the RC sees fit to spend it on.

X2 on stkshtr. Darren is a fine man with a heart for helping others in time of crisis, being the hands and feet of Christ on location. Any donation to Refuel would be to a great ministry.

Seems like 50% to Stkshtr and 50% to your amigo would be perfect.
Paypal gift makes it very easy to move funds and is free.

Too be honest the time and material along with cost means nothing to mean. Right now our fellow Americans need us. The Lord has blessed me and I wanna give back to the ones that really need. I'm gonna try and auction off as many as I can.

Hope I wasn't coming off smart as I wasn't meaning too.

Constantly amazed that people think an organization of that size will run itself

Or that executives will do it pro bono. Hell the number of normal 8-5 salary employees it must take has to be mind boggling

Never donate to Red Cross! During 911 they used donations to upgrade their phone system. Look at the CEO's salary. If you must donate to a big organization, look into the Salvation Army. More of your donation goes to the purpose you donated too. You really should consider Stkshtr's ministry. During the flood of Baton Rouge, he fed crowds of people. He is a great man. Please give him serious consideration. Hunger will be a big issue there.
God Bless you! You have a huge heart my friend!

Considerably less. But also seems to be some misinformation going on. Both seem like good causes

The information presented above is outdated, as W. Todd Bassett stepped down as National Commander of The Salvation Army in April 2006; the current National Commander of the Salvation Army is William A. Roberts. The Salvation Army is not required to file a Form 990 with the IRS because it is primarily a religious organisation, but according to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), Roberts' last reported total annual compensation was $126,920, much higher than the $13,000 reported above. Forbes rates this organisation's efficiency at 82 per cent, a fair bit lower than the 93 per cent figure claimed in the story.

The CEO of the NRA made $4,645,251.00

Doesn't mean they aren't helping the cause

Edit: cancer society, heart association, Boy Scouts,... they're all making more money than Red Cross
