For WMS Deer Magnet. Is this close to what you are paying? Seems high to me?

Dayuuum…..that does seem high. That stuff must really bring in the big bucks.

Their selling point is that its 50 lbs per ac instead of 100. First time iv'e tried it, only thing I don't like is small seed that can't be covered very deep mixed w other seed. Also has gro coat for what thats worth.

Really is a little short of covering an acre. I suggest adding 20 to 30 lbs.of grain seed. The guy at WMS advises this also.

Seed I used was buck busters Fall Mix. 50 lbs/acre and $36 per bag. Had wheat, oats, rye, crimson clover, winter peas, and three different kinds of rape And therein lies the rub. The wheat, oats, rye and winter peas need covered with .25 to 1" of dirt. Clover and rape need to broadcast on top IMHO. Put it all out together and something is either too deep or too shallow.

Mix your own unless you just like to spend money. Just told the co-op lady the same thing. She said "we've got a great mix bagged that is already ready to go for either $28 or $32/bag (I wasnt listening)." I said thanks, but no. Now give me 2 bags of clover 15 bags of Bob oats, 15 bags of coker oats, 25 bags of wheat and 1 bag of rape.

Yep, I didn’t like the small seeds mixed in but all I had on short notice. So I just drug over it. Big seed will do better shallow than little seed too deep

I figure about $500 (35-40%) which pays for off-season lime and other things. The biggest benefit is the cereal grain gets covered 1-2" and the rape and clover goes in last and on top of the cultipacked bed. If you plant right, you get proper germination and don't have to waste additional money over-seeding to get a good stand of grass.

We drilled in 3300lbs of wheat, sowed 100lbs clover, 50lbs mixed greens and several bags of whitail mix different folks gave us to try. On my personal plot today I put in 50lbs wheat, 50lbs oats, 4lbs of mixed greens and 100lbs of fertilizer on just under a acre. Left plenty beans standing when it was picked last week. Now just waiting on the weekend rain.
