I'm just wanting to get some opinions on scent control from some veterans. I used scent control all through the season last year and honestly saw the most deer out of anyone else I hunt with...and they don't use it...they say its only a money maker. I was walking a ridge below a food plot and came back up on the other side. A doe was standing in the plot and the wind was blowing from my back, directly toward her. I watched her 10 minutes and she never saw/smelled me. Guy I hunt with say I'm full of it, lol. What do you guys think?

tell the dumbasses to show you the bucks they are killing without it...

I believe in it. I wash my cloths in some sort of scent neutralizer and use fresh earth cover scent. With all the pines we have, ill get fresh pine needles and store with my clothes a few days before hunting too... It works good for me

LOL exactly! 1 guy killed a couple bucks but they didn't weigh much and were young IMO. These cats don't care anything about wildlife management either.

You're right about having a good time. But if I'm out there, I'm gonna put my best foot forward. Thus use the scent control. I feel like there are certain places, like a draw or valley that the wind will swirl and you really need SC to not run off everything within sight.

It's not 100% effective, but I can afford to buy it and use, so I will. Wash clothes in scent free wash, store in scent lok bags, shower, change in the field, spray down boots, clothes, hat, gear and go hunt. When I'm done I change and clothes go right back in the scent lok bag. I don't wear my hunting boots in the truck either. That's how I roll.

I have been smoking my clothes for the last couple of seasons and have noticed a considerable difference. Especially on public land where they do controlled burns. Works for me. Do you do a dry rub or a sauce

Scent spray dont work. Deer can smell up to seven different smells seperately. Drug dogs would get thrown off if it worked. Spray scent control on you....you can smell it really strongly. The shampoo, soap smells strong. If i can smell it, a deer can smell it. Read about a deers nose. A deer can smell your breath, your scent spray, your sweat, and what u ate for breakfast if the wind is rite. All seperately at the same time. Its a gimic. What turned me off was when my wife said...why are u sprayin that stuff on you cause it stinks real bad? Plus i did total scent control and drenched my rubber boots in spray. Just to have 2 dogs trail my scent rite to my stand and circle my tree. That crap dont work. It just makes you stink more. Leave your clothes and gear outside wrapped in pine needles. Get dressed when u get out of your vehicle and play the wind. I have killed bucks while the wind is blowing rite to them while im eating on the ground. Friends smoke cigarrettes and kill monsters. Sometimes they spook and sometimes they dont. I do use the soap but that crap smells like chemicals too. I wont ever buy scent spray. I kill nice bucks while im peeing and dippin and spittin everywhere. Sometimes they smell me and disappear...sometimes they dont. Wasn't me, musta been a feller looked like me.

I think it’s worthwhile to use it but I also think hunters rely too much on it. For all the “I had a stud at 20 yards with my scent blowing right at him and he never smelled me! Hell I even farted!” you have the “I had a doe walk close to where I walked in to get to my stand and bolted.” There is no way to ever truly beat a deer’s nose, I don’t care what you use. You breath sitting in your stand and you sweat at least some climbing your stand so you are putting out human odor, even if it’s faint.
I use Dead Down Wind detergent and just rub cedar limbs on my clothes before heading to the stand and that has been enough. Basically, I get more out of a spot if I don’t over hunt it and only hunt it when the wind is right.
I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. Theres a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts. Ronald Reagan
