http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/13/nyregion/mountain-lion-is-found-in-connecticut.htmlAnd for years, the responses to those who said they saw a mountain lion were as if they had said they had seen Bigfoot ripping through the Appalachians: You must have been mistaken. A wild eastern cougar? Never. Those are extinct.
Last week was no different, as various reports began trickling in of a mountain lion roaming around, in of all places, Greenwich, Conn.
There was a sighting near the Brunswick School on June 5. In another incident, a paramedic and an emergency medical technician were driving in an ambulance when they said a large cat jumped in front of them. A homeowner made a report around the same time.
A town conservation officer said the sightings were unlikely. But then someone came forward with a photograph. And early Saturday came indisputable evidence: flesh and bone.
Someone driving a Hyundai S.U.V. struck an animal on the Wilbur Cross Parkway in Milford, about 45 miles east of Greenwich. The authorities were called, and the animal was confirmed dead. More to the point, it was also confirmed to be a mountain lion.
Officials took the mountain lion, a 140-pound male, to a state Department of Environmental Protection office; officials said they believed that the dead animal was the same one that had been seen around Greenwich.

If anyone sees a big black cat, shoot it. It's not a cougar, and there is no state game law against shooting jaguars, so fire down.
Why does the state have a closed season on Mountain Lions? Serious question, does anyone know?
We have a closed season on Ruffed Grouse. How many of you have seen one in this state? I've seen one. I was turkey hunting near Auburn one morning and right at daylight one was on a log 10 feet from me, drumming. I say it was a Ruffed Grouse, I guess it could have been a pint sized turkey.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

http://www.gazettenet.com/2011/03/03/eas...c5703c636=gnewsMcCollough said he does believe some of sightings reported are actually mountain lions, but most are probably escaped from captivity or cats from the west that have strayed from their normal range. "The Fish and Wildlife Service does recognize that other mountain lions do appear. There are 110 confirmed, documented cases where mountain lions were seen in the eastern U.S. since 1900," he said. "It's probably most likely that they were pets who were released or escaped." McCollough said it is also possible, but less likely, that the cougars spotted were western cougars that are expanding their range eastward.

I don't know about black panthers but I think the jaguarundi is what people are seeing. At a distance they would look black. The Florida panther looks like a cougar to me. As far as cat tracks go, I saw a HUGE bobcat in Perry County while bow hunting about 10 years ago that I thought was a young deer. It was coming through some sage grass about 70 yards away. I had no idea bobcats got that big. It was as big as a pony! . Ok, I lied. It was big though.

OK, there are about 100 Florida Panthers left in the wild. 100, ONE HUNDRED, ONE ZERO ZERO. 17 of those mere 100 cats, 100 for the entire state, were hit and killed by vehicles. Thousands of photos, videos, prints etc were taken. http://www.floridapanther.org/panther_facts.htmlhttp://flaglerlive.com/16397/florida-panthers-killedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXdFIzl3oNU- How many were killed in Alabama last year? - How many real photos of "Big Cats" in Alabama? - How many videos were taken? - How many photos of the Entire Animal ( Not it's ass, or paw prints ) For the amount of people, that have seen one, there must be a population of about 10,000 in Alabama.
If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

Three-quarters of those would be the imaginary black panther, too.

I guess there are no WOLVES on Green Mtn and Hobbs Island road near Huntsville either. I know there not native but there there! If I had an illegal wolf or panther escape I sure as hell wouldn't report it.
It is what it is.

That would be interesting.

Maybe there would be more game cam pics of them if they ate corn. As far as all the scientist saying there are no panthers in AL goes, just remember scientists also say God couldn't have created the earth. Just sayin.

The world needs more people holding deer in pictures, and less people holding cameras in front of mirrors.

I will be in the woods for 4 days surely I will see one ....and the old 7mag will lay him down .....and yes I would be glad to pay the fines ....heck I could see the headlines now....Redneck shoots black panther as he was hanging deer carcass in tree. so I wonder what the game warden will say when he sees me hunting over a deer hung in the fork of the tree. however bass pro was completely out of panther piss,so the salesman suggested to use bullshit as a cover scent,so yall wish me luck
Let them walk ...and grow them big

I got this one on a trail camera the other day in Calhoun County. This is even the more rare spotted black panther.

The US Fish and Wildlife Service wants you to think this. If they have to report that there are more than 100 Florida panthers in the wild they will lose a significant portion of their funding. I was told by a co-worker that hunters are starting to get pictures on trail cameras on a regular basis of panthers as far north as Gainsville, Fl.
