A friend of mine was hunting near DeFuniak Springs, Fl on the edge of Eglin AFB two years ago and had a tan-long tailed cat-about 100 pounds, that ran under his stand. The cat had a collar with antennae. He figured it was an introduced cat the game people were watching. My In-laws live in FWB, on Garnier's Bay. Their house sits on the water. My FIL took several pictures of a large (200lb) Black bear boar in their yard and driveway last year. My wife and kids go down there for weeks at a time during the summer. I'm not real crazy about bears being around. If I'm there and see a FL panther with a collar, I'm shooting it. The FL panhandle is too populated to have large cats wandering around.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I'm not calling this a lie. But that looks more like a Jaguar than a Panther. Either way that's a great pic.

Those are impressive pics. Best I've seen so far. I've personally never seen one in the wild. I have, on two separate occasions seen huge cat tracks in Cullman county.

No game cam pics, no verified sightings (taking the AON reward of $1,000), none killed on the hwy, none shot and never, ever, in the existence of the world, has there been a verified black (melanistic) mountain lion or panther (NOT jaguar as in above movies). But ... but ... but ... people's seen 'em! They has! They has seen 'em and they's be real! people think all kind of things are real because they think they saw something.

Too bad that jerk that killed one (cougar) near West Point Lake wasn't a few miles west in Alabama so he could have gotten the AON reward. Happened a few years ago. Biologists examined the cat and said it was wild and not a pet. (Or did the reward only apply to black panthers?) Also, there was one on 185 going into Columbus a few years ago that wouldn't leave the median because of the traffic. Some people stopped the traffic and it finally left and went into the woods.

More than 300 new species were discovered in the Philippines last Spring. Was there any evidence that they existed before. No. So all of you that say panthers don't exist, prove it. If you can prove to me that Leprechauns and Unicorns do not exist then I will work on proving to you that a living breeding population of panthers doesn't exist. Until then the total lack of biological, physical or pictorial evidence is good enough for me.

There is also rumors of Red Wolves still around I've seen one of those in Bullock Co. in the last 10 years. My dad saw a pair of long tail cats in Bullock Co. in mid 80s.

Bamaproud--Are you including cougars (which I assume fall into the category of panthers) in your research? If so, are you limiting the study to Alabama only?

I haven't done any research, just have as much reason to believe they exist as Leprechauns and Unicorns.
I don't doubt there have been rare instances of a FL Panther wandering into AL...and I don't doubt some of of our grandparents had legitimate sightings of Native panthers prior to 1945 or so. I can also buy into the very rare instance of an escaped pet. I also don't doubt that people think they have sees them...but they are mistaken.
...there has never been any evidence of a black panther anywhere in the world EVER.
No difference in Bigfoot, Chubacabre, Locke Ness etc...all just figments of active imaginations...cool campfire stories.

You didn't say black in the prior post about there not being a breeding population. OK, I'll go along with the black and agree with you. I'll have to see one also.
