I just found out I got Dec 1-6 muzzy hunt as well. My son is at Miss State and got me to put in (He swears there is a monster killed every year out of this place. Hes been putting in four years and this will be his first time. I have alot of homework to do on this hunt. Never been so any help would be appreciated. Jstocks we need to get together before and see if we can work together maybe.

The 8th - 13th is the better Hunt because the latter dates put you really close to prime pre rut activity in this area. I've never hunted panther, but used to be in a lease not far from there. There are some definite good bucks roaming this area of the state.

We have a group of 3 and I have some maps from some hunters with past success. I'm looking forward to enjoying some time in the woods.

There are several BIG bucks killed every year in Panther. I've duck hunted over there many times and seen several nice ones. Lots of hogs too. If your hunt overlaps duck season just roll with it because it's a very popular public duck hunting place. Take a boat, find the most out of the way place you can and have your knife sharpened and ready. You may kill a sho nuff monster!

Those duck hunters have absolutely destroyed some of the roads in yazoo(Theodore Roosevelt).

I worked in the middle of Panther Swamp a long, long time ago. Learned the lay of the land of a small portion of it. It was a 2 hour drive from my home at the time, so I never hunted it.

We spent about 45 minutes walking in to get our work done.... so, find your spot, get there and stay there.

THe hogs were as close to eradicated as they are going to get for awhile on Panther I heard. In late Feb or March they did a week or so of heavy helicopter work in that area per one of my customers from Yazoo City...as in several thousand dead.
If you go to Panther and go to where you need to be, you sure don't want to spoil a hunt shooting hogs anyway...you can do that in Alabama
