Way to go, Jono! Happy for you man! thumbup

Southwood garholed me. He told me we were going to his number one spot. Nevermind we passed one of the biggest bucks I've ever seen on the way in about 3 miles before "his" spot. Then he sends me down a logging road and tells me, "walk that way" and pointed towards Orion in the sky. He didn't even tell me until after the hunt that we were on private property but only mentioned to run if I saw anyone as I walked off from the truck early this morning. Apparently this is a turkey hunting tactic that I'm not aware of since I'm a lowly ol' deer hunter.

I'm looking for a new hunting partner if anyone is available.

Good job jono. Still working on my 1st. Had 4 come in behind me ans managed to get down wind. They didn't see me but got a little jumpy. They left and came back to the same tree. Left again.

Just spray it off with a water hose after you get it skinned. Quarter it up and put it in a cooler on ice. Open the drain so the water can run off. Keep it on ice for a few days letting the blood drain out.

What CNC said, rinse it off good, quarter it or debone the meat and keep it on ice for about few days, drain off the water and keeping adding ice as it melts. This will help the meat age well. Get some freezer paper and good plastic wrap for freezing.

One tip that I like for backstraps - leave the silverskin on when you freeze. It will help protect the meat against freezer burn.

Yea rinse it off. Let it drip dry/drain then freeze.

Hit her right behind the shoulder blade, complete passthrough. I thought I missed when I first walked up to the arrow lol. It was stuck in the ground like I didn't shoot anything, but realized it was covered in blood when I got up to it. It was a 25 yard shot, shot through some super thick stuff but had 1 tiny shooting lane and she walked right into it. Like I said earlier, she ran 20 yards and fell.Second bow kill for me. Hoping for many more!

Oh and I used G5 Montec brodheads and a nufletch ignitor nock.
