I don't know anything about him because Huntsville is rarely covered in the news in the Bham market.

His flyer is good, but any schmuck can make a compelling marketing piece.

He is thought of very highly in and around the Rocket City. I'd say he'd be a HUGE improvement over what we've had last few terms. Of course nowhere to go but up, cause we're on rock bottom.

Tommy's well respected, hasn't had a hint of scandal that I know of other than folks bitching as usual about city government, has been involved in the community, and I believe actually does care about the city, people and doing a good job for Huntsville. He's helped bring in businesses that have provided good jobs in various sectors, is available to the public and IMO would be a great governor IF he doesn't get hamstrung by the Montgomery political crowd.

I think Tommy Battle would be a great Governor.

If I were still a resident of AL, I would be voting for Bill Hightower. He's a devout Christian, close family friend, accomplished businessman, and has a good track record as state senator.

I'll be voting for Tommy Battle unless something horrible comes out before the election. Huntsville is eons ahead of the rest of the state in technology, jobs, etc and a lot of that is due to how the local government is run. A lot is also curtesy of RSA and NASA but they have a lot of influence on the local guvment as well. A man that can run Huntsville without anything remotely scandalous ever being in the news is a damn good leader IMHO.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I work a lot in Huntsville and the business climate there is awesome. I am impressed with what he has done.
Bet a lot of people don't know he started our as a restaurant manager at Britling on Highland Ave in Birmingham.

I sure didn't but I have a relative that started as a dish washer there in the early 70s!

Live near Huntsville and get my TV news from there. Battle seems to be a good mayor and Huntsville is doing well under his leadership. Probably will vote for him. flag

Good to know there are some viable options unlike our senate race.

Isn't he the mayor that "decentralized" the poverty by the city buying up foreclosures in south Huntsville and moving project dwellers into them?

AC is right: it is very difficult for a far-north alabamian to get statewide recognition; it will take tons of money to do so.
there have been exceptions, such as hunt, but they are rare ...
