I still like Senator Cruz Tax plan. Eliminate the IRS and 10% across the board. Sure would be easy Me too!! But pipe dream unfortunately. I am always amazed at the folks that think you can actually do away with the IRS. Do you really think everyone will all of a sudden become honest and pay their taxes? That's why a set sales tax (fair tax) on purchases across the board is a much better proposition. Wrong again. The States have sales tax auditors all over the country trying to get businesses to pay their sales taxes. I would estimate that Alabama alone misses out on collecting at least 1/2 BILLION annually. So what makes you think everyone will pay it on the national level? I imagine that it would be easier to police the 28 million or so businesses than it would be to police all those businesses PLUS the hundred or so million individual taxpayers in the US...especially after eliminating all the layers of tax code. Im all about a Flat tax on Sales. A consumption based tax is the ONLY way freeloaders..(drug dealers, criminals, illegal immigrants, etc...people who live off the system.) end up paying their fair share. Tax consumption,...not earnings. Too easy for folks to work under the table.

They don’t need help buying a house. But, I can promise you they need all the deductions they can get. No doubt. The weathly pay the largest burden already. Lets start where the CHEATERS pay..the under the table workers, drug dealers, criminals, illegal aliens. They all BUY stuff. TAX CONSUMPTION. Im frugal..so I LOVE that idea!

Somehow that doesn’t seem like a strategically economics based opinion Maybe not strategically economics based opinion but none the less the truth if someone has a mortgage of over 500k you are probably going to be ok or either you bought to much house. That sounds very democratic like. Tax the rich. They can afford it. Yea that's me a big democrat. I would be more for no deductions of any kind and everyone just pay a flat rate. But the mortgage deduction was enacted to entice/help people buy houses. I don't think anyone that can afford a 500k mortgage needs help buying a house. Using your logic, the money is the government's and they are "giving" it to people to buy homes. To think one class of people will "be ok" with a tax not imposed on others is liberal logic. There are lots of Republicans who buy into it these days. Not sure how you take me saying I wish they would do away with all deductions makes me a liberal, maybe your drunk idk. However if you do not see that the home tax deduction has been adulterated way beyond what it was meant for I can't help it. Again I wish they would do away with the home tax deduction the state tax deduction child tax credits the EITC and every other deduction. Just make a tax rate and everyone pay there taxes. But since that is never gonna happen I do not believe rich people need and help buying houses, and if they do they are buying to much house.
If you're gonna be stupid you better be tough.

It just doesn't seem right to pay taxes on money you paid taxes on.

The reason it will never happen is all the special interest groups controlled by the big money people in this country. They got to have there loop holes.

I honestly hadn't studied it enough to know whether it benefits me or not. I do, however, know that Nancy Pelosi is opposed to it, so it has to be a good thing.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I said your contention that because someone has more money than most they will be ok paying more, is liberal ideology. I am sure you hold mostly conservative positions but on this one you have a liberal view. You might wish we were on a flat tax but you're ok with the wealthy paying more because they can afford it. I don't believe it's ok for any one class of people to be taxed at a higher rate than others. That's a conservative position. I don't drink, by the way.

OMG Now I understand you must be one of the rich people that is gonna loose some of your tax deductions if thing gets passed. You obviously are not a mind reader because you have no ideal what I believe or want. As long as we are on our current system the people that make more will pay more that is just the reality of it. I pay more now than I did 15 years ago when I made less that's just the system we have and it ain't gonna change no matter how much I want it to. Is it fair no life ain't fair a fair is something you take your kids to.

A big issue being ignored here is the 1.5 trillion added to the debt that everyone suddenly seems ok with.
That doesn't sound very "conservative" to me. Last time we had a big tax cut (Reagan) tax revenues doubled.

I'm not rich. I just don't believe the wealthy should be paying a higher rate than anyone else. That's a big part of fiscal conservatism. I don't know everything you believe but I know what you said you believe on this matter because you put it out there.

The new tax plan has several good things but it's still far from what a Republican president and Congress should be putting forth. It's better than nothing but it's not what they were elected to do.
Now that info is coming out the Republicans put a little something extra in that furthers the notion that the wealthy should pay more. It appears they included a bubble tax for those making over 1 million a year. The top tax rate will go from 39.6% to 45.6% on the first 200k over 1 million. That's right out of the democrat play book and just feeds into the class warfare mentality of the left.

That's what I've been hollering... makes ya want to take a baseball bat to the Republican congress. Troy, it's better than I'd expect and congress will likely rewrite it several times but the truth is this tax reform bill came from Trumps desk. His Secretary of Treasury is the architect. He now will be looking to congress to get it passed, mostly intact.
