At Alabama the State owns the land and builds the house with bond money at a super low rate. The Greek house pays the bond off at the state rate but the University owns the land. Sounds a lot like rich welfare to me.

I tried to join several sororities when I was in college. Never got to the bid stage. Obama made it legal. All you needed was a gender identity crisis.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Ratio was 7 girls to every guy at Auburn so I was lookin for my 7 and somebody else's 6

I wonder what, if anything, FSU will do when a group tries to start a Frat with no campus affiliation. I'm sure it won't get a national Greek affiliation, but the kids can start something. Just to piss off the school, I could see a new Hell's Angels charter in Tally.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

It’ll end up being a loosely bound band of boozehounds, trashing rental house after rental house. Without the funds, they’ll lose structure. Mom and Dad aren’t gonna write a check to billy bob, king of the boozehounds.

I'm not a huge proponent of Greek life, but here are some statistics for you fellas that think they're pointless.
Of the nation’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by fraternity men. 85% of the Fortune 500 executives belong to a fraternity. 40 of 47 U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1910 were fraternity men. 76% of all Congressmen and Senators belong to a fraternity. Every U.S. President and Vice President, except two in each office, born since the first social fraternity was founded in 1825 have been members of a fraternity. I don't really care or know much about Greek life. The only fraternity I have ever been in none of the letters were Greek and it was more like Sparta if you want to know the truth. Hazing occurred at a place called Parris Island. Met a lot of brothers in life since then and proud to call most brothers. A lot of good leaders came out of that fraternity and I attribute a lot of my success to the lessons I learned there. Hardship and sacrifice makes us stronger.

I'm still friends with people I met in college. We hunted together, fished together, got chitfaced together. Still do on the first 2. I didn't follow the righteous path of becoming a fido, or whatever was laid out for me. They didn't have fratties in the 8th grade at Lanett. BTW, that's as far as my father got. His dad died when he was 7. He went to work real damn young. Thank goodness, textile wages and an academic scholarship got me through the 4 years. I was asked to join a frat, but after hearing that they had a special handshake and secret sign, I ran away. (laughing) What was next, a decoder ring? They were even going to bestow a lavaliership on me. Come on, now, I'm a linthead, not aristocracy. What does lavaliered mean anyway. Would I be a diplomat to the Bikini Islands? And the hell of it was, I graduated even though I spent 4 years in the armpit of the south, Birmingham, Alabama. Lots of satire here and I'm sure you heroes of the Parthenon will understand. Just admit you got blackballed
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

Sounds a lot like rich welfare to me. Almost correct. The fraternity leases the land from the university. The fraternity has to have a certain percentage of the cost up front and they pay for the rest with a house payment just like anyone else. The school makes money off these houses. The cost of being in a fraternity, living in the house and eating on the meal plan is actually more cost effective these days then the cost for living in a dorm or apartment and buying a meal plan from the school.

This will be temporary, I can assure you. He may have the power to do this but the Frats and Sorts have a lot more power and funds available than FSU does. Remember you are talking a nation wide organization with current members and a ton of contributing alumni. He only did what he needed to satisfy those political gurus.
If FSU was concerned about students safety, he would have suspended their football years ago.

If FSU was concerned about students safety, he would have suspended their football years ago. True, temporary. They'd lose way to many potential wealthy, paying students. It's all about Greek life and football at big schools in the south.

Remember you are talking a nation wide organization with current members and a ton of contributing alumni. This is the most important part.
