I've always thought it should be possible to mount a mulcher on the FEL of my 75 hp tractor. I'd need a high capacity hydraulic pump, but they make those that run off the PTO. Somebody told me I'd be killed the first day if I were ever able to get it to work, but I'd wear my helmet. And I want one. Is it possible? I hear you on needing higher flow on a FEL. You would need a cab with thick glass to run a mulcher and the radiator might be vulnerable on a tractor. I have seen PTO driven mulchers. So you have seen one set up like I'm talking about? Any idea who made it? Someone oughta sell a kit with a small head, a high flow pump, and all the hoses and connections you would need to do it. I considered trading my dozer for a skid steer with a mulcher, and even talked to a couple of dealers. All my dozer work was done and I could have really used the skid steer back then. The problem was that there were no used ones around and it would cost way too much to trade for a new one. Used dozers are for sale everywhere, but back then the only way to buy it new. I really wouldn't have that much use for one now. More than a decade of burning has cleaned the place up pretty well. I saw it behind a state tractor on the interstate a few years back. Looked kinda like a tiller but it was a mulcher. I haven't seen one since. www.fecon.com Look at the bull hog. Thanks, I will look that up. For anyone interested, here is the company RobertD mentioned: http://lanesharkusa.comIt doesn't look all that dangerous to me, and they have a video of a guy running one with no protection at all on a really dinky little tractor. And it doesn't require a high flow pump and it costs only $3195. I'm sure Mr. Trump would be glad to help me buy it, but that looks like more of a cutter than a mulcher. It's not quite what I dreamed about, but I'm sure it would be a useful piece of equipment. I am friends with one of the owners/developers of the LaneShark. That is an awesome piece of equipment for what it is, even though it's not a mulcher. I haven't seen a piece of equipment that will clear roadways and shooting lanes as good as this (mounted to a tractor).

It's not quite what I dreamed about, but I'm sure it would be a useful piece of equipment. You right in calling it a cutter, there are several of these types on the market. I actually had one for a skid steer before I bought the mulcher. I always described it as “a bush hog on steroids”. It does a great job of cutting and knocking things down but has limited capability of grinding things up. But for the money, it does a decent job. As for adapting a tractor, this type of thing would probably be your best bet. You step into a different world with Mulching. A mulch head that won’t bog down is going to require high flow hydraulics ( 35-40 GPM) I tried a standard flow mulcher before I bought the Kubota and was truly disapointed. The other issue is these things are really violent when cutting, it requires a substantial frame to control. Not to mention as previously stated the flying debris. We shattered the safety glass window on ours, replaced it with Lexan. One of the 3pt attachment mulcher sounds about what your looking for, they are designed for the back of a larger tractor and do a fair job. The only problem with those is your constantly backing up. But for piddling around the farm, that Lane Shark sounds idea.

They have two Lane Sharks mounted on Kubota's in Monroeville at So. Alabama Tractor. Look cool. Watched Youtube video's from the manufacturer and they had them on midsize tractors without cabs. Think that would be a good way to get hit with a stick!

Steve you definitely need the lane shark. That would be ideal for your tractor. And then I could borrow it.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.
