This is my 3rd season. So far I have only killed one per season. Hoping for two and I think that would work well for us.

I have a friend who usually puts up at least a dozen if not 14-15 for a family of four. They do not buy beef or store meat.
I mean, if they're eating them, then more power to them.....I just don't see how anyone eats that much meat. The only beef we buy from the store is steaks. But we also don't eat red meat for every meal - we'll eat chicken a lot and fish occasionally. But even if we replaced every chicken meal with red meat, I don't think we could eat more than 6 or 7 deer in a year.

I know a guy that eats nothing but deer and hog all year. I would say roughly how many does he kills each year but some of y'all get get all wadded up. I bought a 4-wheeler from a guy south of Selma several years ago. We went to the barn where it was parked and there was a corn crib stack about 5 feet high with antlers. Some of them really nice racks. There apeared to be several familys living on the property so i am sure the meat was well used. No telling how many does where killed. I dont have any issue with people living off the land and he didnt hurt the population in that area one bit. Up around St.Clair where i am at would be another story.

That's exactly how it is with who I mentioned. He doesn't waste any. Just uses all of his property to his advantage.

Our family of five will eat 200-225 lbs of game meat/year if I can put that much in the freezer. I haven't done that for several years.
Last year I only put away about 120 lbs of game meat and it was gone by late July, and we really stretched it.

They are. He put up 13 three years ago and they ran out. They eat something almost every meal; also do some other things like chili for church socials, etc. It doesn't go to waste.

3 full time members and a college student. 3-4 is the right number for us. At four we usually end up giving some to cousins. At 3 we run out during the late summer. My son is a walking stomach and learned how to make his own Hamburger Helper, which he likes so he can go through the deer burger meat.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Two a year. I only buy beef if it's ribeyes. If you have the chance try a Chuck Eye, I think it was Irishguy that turned me on to them. Very similar to a Ribeye but a little bit cheaper. a butcher told me that the chuck eye steaks are the bottom cut of a rib eye. The same just cut at the bottom of a rib eye and a lot cheaper
