I always have had terminex. Everybody else just comes out looks around and maybe sprays around the house, but doesn't cover anything.

I was a termite technician for cooks. On average yearly theirs is about $400. Sometimes its more or less. You will not beat cooks termite service or their bond. Pretty much like having termite insurance. And sentricon is better than any other chemical out there. Ive flat out wiped termites out of existence around homes..stuffs amazing. Depends on what its worth to the home owner. The tech will come twice a year unless you have active termites in which case he will come more frequently to make sure they are gone. One checkup will be just to check and clean out the stations the next they will inspect the home, crawlspace or the interior if its a slab home. They do a good job. Now pest on the other hand i dont know much about.

I can't say enough for you guys that pay 2 and 3 hundred dollars to have someone walk around your house and say he sees no termites. I used to have that and after about 3 years of $200.00 one day in my kitchen found under my sink rotten wood where termites were coming through, called them and they told me they would come out and spray but were not responsible for the damage.

Honestly guys, Im a builder and renovate and flip houses. Its what I do 24/7/360.

The termite treatment and bond is great. It can save you thousands.

Every building I build we pre treat the foundation, and then treat the building with termidor a couple years later with a bond. All the same company.

Any building I buy and OFFER for resale as a flip, I treat with termidor and get a transferable termite bond!

Anyone buying any of the houses I sell, can rest assured..your house IS treated and any damage will be covered as long as they pay the $125 to 200 per year!

I highly recommend them.

I bought a building a few years ago. Termite inspection, no termites.

I noticed in the first 2 months a mound outside against the brick wall and slab.. called the termite guys as they were scheduled to treat it and YEP!

Termites. Just starting to set up camp, started the little dirt tunnels along the SLAB!

They came and drilled, treated it and gave it a bond.

I offer all my houses with a termite bond as well as a one year HOME warranty..including the dang home owners appliances!

Folks need to have a state of mind that things are covered. Those termite bonds can save you $10,000 to 20,000 K or MORE.

Just my opinion.

But I recommend to all my customers..its the South..its not IF youll have termites..IT IS WHEN!

Cover your butt. Its sure cheaper then dang health insurance , but can be awful expensive if you arent bonded!

$125 - 200 a year...? well worth it in my opinion.

Heck, I even treat and have bonds on all our rental properties. Crazy not to I think. You CANT SEE termite damge. They are eating you dang wall studs.

If you see them eating and causing tunnels on your drywall? Guess what? Its too late..THEY RAN OUT OF WOOD TO EAT!

TRUTH!

Guys I would highly advise all of you to watch this video. I noticed some of you mentioned the sentricon system and such. I cannot provide any further details at this time, but just please trust me and watch this if you are a homeowner or plan on being one....

Ole Termite Tom...since I'm testifying at trial tomorrow in a termite case I probably should not give my opinion. It ain't very high personally or professionally. Mr. Campbell is very knowledgeable on all things termite related and has made millions of dollars getting his cut of litigation awards and settlements. He's nationwide and is involved in most all termite cases in Alabama. He loves to make youtube videos and use facebook to talk about his cases.

I do a lot of work on termite issues, damage and legal cases. here are my thoughts.

Homeowners. Many homeowners don't maintain their homes very well. I see countless homes with water issues that 100% encourage and increase termite activity. Even more don't crawl their crawlspaces regularly, walk their attic, or look behind furniture from time to time. Everyone is busy and who remembers to do that? Few of us.

Termite Companies. Some are Professional and thorough and provide real inspections and actually follow the label requirements for chemicals or bait stations. Some companies are good to OK...just depends on who the technician is or if you catch them on a good day perhaps. Some Termite Operators are terrible, cheats and liars. Same with any industry really..even lawyers. Even the best companies will miss something sometimes...and sometimes a bad company will do a great job.

Liquid Chemicals: Old stuff was awesome for killing bugs...but harmful to people and the environment per the scientists. The new stuff, in order to be more friendly to health and safety, is in essence less effective on termites.

Bait Stations: Bait is not a barrier. Bait is bait and will do a really good job, especially the "Always Active" by Sentricon. But these require proper installation, checking and good inspections too.

Termite Operators: Here is where the applicator comes into play...right chemicals, right application (right amounts in proper places at proper times)...then retreated as required on schedule??? All depends on the company.

Inspections: 5-10 minute walk through is 100% inadequate. It takes time and a commitment to excellence to do a full and complete inspection. Same with treatments....its really character and integrity driven. A great company with a lone technician who is short cutting procedures will cause problems...or not catch problems. An good inspection will not only look for termites but also look for other issues such as humidity, water intrusion, Powder Post Beetles, wood rot decay/mold/fungus organisms, vapor barriers, wood to ground contacts, wood debris in crawl, etc...

Bonds: Really 2 types.
1. Retreat Only Bond: Company treats and offers a bond to retreat any active infestation that may arise. They do this because termites get past barrier and bait systems all the time...even when done properly because there are other variables that can happen allowing for ways past termite treatments. Form boards, inaccessible areas that were never pretreated and cannot be checked, water, formosans, etc...

2. Repair Bond: Company treats and offers a bond that will include retreat of any active infestations along with a repair of damage up to a certain dollar figure. This can vary.

Termite Bonds are worth it, if and only if, the company doing the treatments and inspections is following industry standards. Short cutting the processes hurts home owners. I know of numerous retreat only bonds where companies will help take care of their clients even when not required to do so by contract. I know companies that will take your money and not give much in return at all...false security. I also know of dirty lawyers who lie and manipulate things to win cases.

The majority of our cases are dealing with liquid chemical treatments, although I've been involved on several bait station cases by well known national companies.

$150. We let our bond lapse for about 5 years and ended up getting termites. It was not easy to find them. I will not go without a bond.
