Can "decent" binoculars be had for < $100? Suggestions?

I would say no... You can get close with some of the cheaper Vortex models $130-$150, like 257 said "you get what you pay for with glass"

I am a firm believer in good optics. You'll be better off lighting a $100 bill on fire than spending it on a pair of binoculars. Put about 3 more bills with it and you'll be ok.

Watch for sales they are out there. The Nikons posted above may be pretty nice, but they might not be waterproof ( I had some Nikon actions a while back like that).

I got a pair of Nikon prostaff 7 10x42 a couple years ago for $100. I would definitely say they are good bino's.

My wife bought me a pair of Redfield Rebels at around $150. I love them. They are the first real pair of binos I’ve ever owned and work well. 10x42. There are naysayers on here that will knock them, but I think they work well for the $.

I would think a lot depends on how you will use them. It seems cheap ones would work OK to quickly check movement because you don't want to point your gun an an unidentified movement.

I wouldn't want cheap ones to evaluate bucks in low light or spend hours glassing open country for game.

Right.......I need something to use in a shooting house when I want to look at something (probably within 300 yds max) without fooling with raising my gun up, and the little ones I have now aren't cutting it. I'm not glassing for ELK 1000yds away. I'll look into some of the recommendations above.

I have some 10x40 Leupold bx-2 Acadia that I bought a few years ago for under $100. They are outstanding, the view is comparable to my Leupold vxlll 50mm scope in low light.
Cabelas has them now for $150

I’ve got bushnell trophy XLT 10x42 binos. They are less that $100 and work perfectly for what I need them to do.

Same, they do fine. Sure they could be better, but for where I hunt they work well enough.

$100 good binoculars do not exist. For a few hundred look at the Zeiss terra, morphs meopro, or vortex vipers. They will get the job done for around $400-500. The bikers get good reviews in that price range.

Celestron gets real good reviews from bird watchers. I have a 15X70 pair for game watching around the house which were less than $100 and I am impressed. Look on Amazon at the Celestrons....
