Yeah, I realize for the most part, dog houses are supposed to be on the smaller side to help contain their body heat. If it gets too cold, he comes inside. This is really more for getting out of the blowing rain and cold wind. Plus I built it big enough for another dog. We are kicking around the idea of getting a second one.

Most people buy over sized or build over sized dog houses for their dogs. Dogs need just enough room to turn around and curl up. Think about the size space that their body heat has to heat up.
Smaller the better.
It might be too big and drafty for him.
I'm just guessing here. My thought too. My puppies have never gone into full size crates but will go into smaller crates. Probably same genetic wiring at play here.
