I've done it more than once and take my word for it, you just ruined two good arrows. Good job busting nocks!

Like I told my wife, I've torn up a bunch of arrows already but they all just glanced off, still busting up the other one.

Luckily those two arrows I picked up last week for cheap (3.00 ea). They were uncut and had crappy vanes but I fixed that. Bad part is, I refletched them with some new feathers. Heck the feathers probably cost as much as the arrows.

Thanks guys,

I definitely shoot at different spots when I shoot with broadheads. I've torn up way too many when shooting them.

never done it with my recurve, came SCARY close, but never done it.
caught a nock once or twice.

but when i bought my compound a few years ago within 10 shots i had a 5 foot long arrow. only FUBAR'd one shaft though. just took the point off of first arrow and unscrewed the second arrow outta the nock end of the first, put point back in the second shaft, kept on plugging!

I had a ton of people come up to me at work after they aired the first show telling me about it. They wanted me to send them some pictures of the arrows I have hanging on my shop wall. I finally saw the episode they were talking about and another episode where they attempted it again. What they were trying to do was split a wood arrow nock to tip like they did in the old Robin Hood films. It's damn near impossible to do. What they finally determined was the arrow they showed on film being split nock to tip was made of bamboo. The bamboo shaft is hollow like today's modern aluminum and carbon shafts.

The neatest robin hood I ever saw was at an ASA Pro/Am. A dude shooting some skinny Easton ACC shafts robin hooded a fat Gold Tip target shaft. His arrow actually stuck up in the back of the nib point on the Gold Tip. The only damage both arrows received was a busted nock on the Gold Tip and the fletches torn off the ACC. The Gold Tip was sitting in the 12 ring also. So both shooters scored the 12.

I have never had a Robin Hood either, but it would be pretty cool. I have shot some nocks off and put a dent in some arrows, but I try not to shoot at the same spot with more than two arrows especially at 30 yards or closer. With broadheads I only shoot one arrow at each "spot".
