One of the best friends that I ever had, who has passed on, always said he only needed a place big enough to park his truck. He was known to be a piddler and couldn't see imaginary lines God rest his soul.
I bet he was a dang good turkey hunter.
He never bothered with them feathery things.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
I killed my biggest on a less than 20ac spot. My buddy saw 5 racked bucks all together on the same place.

I own 12 acres an ive got some deer tracks but ive yet to put out a camera or anything. If i was buyin a little place itd have to be dwelling site with cabin or camper or somethin to be built there. But if i was rich an i was buyin strictly for hunting itd be probly 100acres at least
I seriously don't know. I bought 10 acres for the sole purpose of building a mountain cabin, but I have put up a game camera in years past and seen many does, and several bucks up to 8 point on my property.
A bunch of Forever Wild land is across the road from me, and on my side of the road the land is virtually never hunted, unless someone is poaching that I'm not aware of. There is also 40 acres below me and I'm going to ask the land owners if they mind if I hunt it.
Once I finish my cabin I am going to make my little 10 acres as attractive to deer as I can by planting, etc...
What's the smallest tract you would seriously consider buying for deer hunting purposes? I recently read an article about a guy that bought a 13 acre tract solely for deer hunting and that got me to wondering. I see several tracts on land reality sites under 50 acres that are really reasonable when you look at the price. Just curious.
I've got 5 acres surrounded by Ag land and swamp. Deer come in to my food plot but I've let them have the last 2 years to recover. 5 is good for rifle hunting but not conducive to bow hunting because they usually run off to next property before dropping. I lost one bow hunting and stopped bow hunting my small tract to ensure I could recover the deer. I may shoot one this year with a rifle or give them a third year off. I bow hunt my friend's 40 acres when I have time to bow hunt because I know there is enough room to recover the deer. I guess how you hunt the small tracts depends on how willing your neighbors are to let you recover deer that run onto their property. With a rifle on smaller properties, that is usually not an issue.
A buddy of mine hunted his bosses 3 acre tract for several years. It was at the end of a slough on Weiss Lake. Deer would funnel around the slough instead of swimming most of the time. He killed several good deer there and quit hunting it because he said it wasn't like hunting at all. Said it was just killing.

Crazy dude. You never give up a killing spot, ever.

If he was killing high end, mature studs for that area, well, he needs to find another way to get his jollies. Maybe butterfly or stamp collecting.

He paid a few taxidermy bills if that's what you mean. Not Jackson county limestone and calcium saturated bucks, but good representative bucks for the area. I think I would have been making friends with the bosses kids and grandkids to ensure future hunts there. He wasn't challenged there so each buck meant a little less than those he killed on the national forest land 2-1/2 hours away. I never knew of him shooting the first doe and he loved to hunt public land. Just the kind of guy he was. Cancer got him this last year but he left his sons with a love of the outdoors.
I generally only hunt about an acre on any given hunt. Can’t see any more in the woods and most central Al greenfields aren’t over that. If you want to hold deer you’ll need at least 40
